In reply to: Can’t add my feed to My Yahoo…I am having the same problem! Driving me nuts. Did you ever find a solution? I have tried adding a link through feedburner also. The feed validates in other readers, it’s been indexed in Yahoo (because I successfully added it to Yahoo before), and I’m stumpted. All suggestions welcome.
Two additional points since I wrote this post originally:
1) I have also attempted to add the feed through https://e.my.yahoo.com/config/xcontent (which I found as a workaround suggestion on https://consumingexperience.blogspot.com/2005/02/myyahoo-how-to-add-your-feed.html … but yet, that doesn’t work either.2) I tried adding the feed to my.yahoo on a second machine (to a different my.yahoo acct) and that didn’t work either.

In reply to: Too much space between paragraphsSam, introducing the p did the trick, fixing the paragraph spacing issue. It also messed up the vertical line I was using, however. After playing around with different properties, I gave up trying to fix it and I’m now happy with the new format. Thank you for your help! [And also the help of everyone who has responded to this post.]

In reply to: Import from another WP blog?David, I was away when your mesg arrived.
I’m an amateur too so hopefully this will prove helpful. Mostly, I need more information first…
1) In order to find import-rss.php I’d need to know the URL where your new blog is located. Once I have that, I can give you the URL to the file (at least my best guess at that address). In other words, provide the web address where I can see your new blog.
2) Then, you’ll need access to the server where the WP is installed so that after you download the file and make the modifications you can upload it again to the location where it was before. I don’t know what “transmit” is — is that the name of an application? If it’s a tool to upload files, like an FTP tool, I can be more helpful. If it’s not, maybe you have a site administrator you could send the file to who could post it on the server if you don’t have access yourself…
3) Then, I’ll need the OLD blog’s URL to figure out where the RSS2 feed is located. That “https://www.domain.com/wpdir/wp-rss2.php” is shorthand for “https://theaddressofyoursite/yourwordpressdirectory/” For example, mine is https://www.agelesslearner.com/blog/(i.e. my domain, and the directory where wordpress is stored).

In reply to: Too much space between paragraphsIt sounded so promising, but there isn’t a blockquote css in the mx4.css. I checked throughout, and also checked to see if there was some other conflicting margin settings. [And I didn’t mean to imply I had any sets of 3 values. I’m just trying to figure out what to adjust to get this blockquote to look right.]
As soon as I have the time to learn a whole bunch more about CSS, I will combine the style sheets. That makes tons of sense. Thank you so much for your help.

In reply to: Too much space between paragraphsThanks! That cleared it up right away. For me, normal was 5px (which I came to after trying a wide-range of numbers).
Now, however, my blockquote paragraph spacing is too small. I’ve tried adjusting that same number (the 3rd one), without success. I also tried adding additional values to the margin line but neither seems to have any influence on the paragraph spacing at all.
I’d actually like to change the blockquote to look like it did on my old blog, where there the blockquote style was like this:
blockquote {
margin: 15px 30px 0 10px;
padding-left: 20px;
border-left: 5px solid #ddd;
}But when I add that into the layout.css file, it creates the left rule but the paragraphs are still too close together. I’ve tried adjusting the 3rd value way up, and still not difference in spacing. I thought that the 3rd number was for “bottom” but clearly I’m wrong — and missing something! I’ve reverted the blockquote section back to the way it’s listed in my original post for now and hope that once I can figure out how to improve the spacing, I’ll be able to add back in the left rule and remove the ital.

In reply to: Import from another WP blog?Patil’s reply gave me enough information to figure out how to make this work in my situation.
1) Modified the number of entries shown in the RSS feed to 999 so it pulled in all of my old files.
2) Found and modified the import-rss.php file so that it pointed to my feed (mine was found at https://www.domain.com/wpdir/wp-rss2.php*
3) Imported all of the entries by opening import-rss.php in my browser window.While the import worked like magic, this approach did cause a problem. About half my imported entries looked like they had a bunch of junk formatting in them. On a lark, I opened one of those entries and tried to save it — and to my delight the entry was saved without the junk formatting. [I have no explanation for this, but why question a workable solution? So I re-saved all those entries that looked weird and when it was done it was done.]
*In truth, I first used the #1-3 steps above with the wp-rss.php feed but that didn’t bring over my categories or file dates so I deleted each entry and tried again with the wp-rss2.php feed.
Now on to my next challenge: figuring out why my CSS file is creating too much spacing between paragraphs.
