The issue has resolved. it’s may related to the performance settings of the theme Uncode.

Same problem with the backend-warning here. I see the plus checkout in sandbox-mode, but just a red triangle or nothing in live-mode.

This is the live-mode error:

even with “https://fiberreed.de/checkout/order-received/” as redirect URL this “de/cgi-bin” prefix stays. what is wrong? It may be WPML?

OK. it seems some setting must be wrong. Automatic redirect was not active in PayPal settings but the manual link back at PayPal was like this:

/de/cgi-bin/https://fiberreed.de/kasse/order-received/1789?key=wc_order_53d9020540f2e&utm_nooverride=1 was not found on this server.

In Analytics I see that all Paypal orders and some other payments are not being tracked (all the missing order numbers – i have sequential oder numbers).
