I took a look at this, and it appears the plugin, CodeColorer, has difficulties highlighting the text as intended on this theme. All preformatted and code blocks in Gutenberg work just fine without the plugin, but also don’t highlight any syntax.

Have you tried minifying your CSS? It appears that the bytes are too many and minification can help.

Then I tried to paste in some content, as I’m almost certain a huge number of other WP users do.. I cried.

I get that the future of the create/edit post screen is a WYSIWYG page builder (which will surely make the customiser completely redundant?)

While Gutenberg, right now, is just focusing on the page content, there are plans to improve the Customizer with a similar block editing experience. They’ll work together because Gutenberg will edit the content, while the Customizer will edit the page/site. I hope that helps clarify their relationship.

Saying to devs ‘go away and learn a whole new way of doing things, ooh, and you’ve got less than a year to do it’ is a bit unnecessary.

I don’t think anyone is saying “go away”, but instead “Come learn, contribute, and grow with us.” We are making concerted efforts to include developers and their requests.

Many would agree, @destac, that Gutenberg isn’t ready yet… even the Gutenberg developers. That’s why there’s continuous work being done on it.
