I would guess its a permission issue on the folders.

try deleting the index.html or index.htm from your root directory, or whatever your placeholder file is, the server will always serve that file first.

basically GD are saying you cant do it on (their) windows servers

login to admin dashboard, go to settings > Reading – there you will find the option that you require..

open up the index.php file from the fresh download and the file from the server you just uploaded to and see if there are any differences in code as i can confirm the fresh download is definetely not the issue…

Is this stopping your wordpress application from running /installing?

@karenbosami can you check your xampp/htdocs folder to confirm the wordpress/wp-admin/install.php file is there?

To be more specific, IIS and Apache might be conflicting, i find i have to stop IIS in windows 7 to get apache to start properly. I dont think xp came with IIS though..

These are localhost installations right? Could be a conlfict with a windows service (IIS) if this service is installed..

Basically you have to either rebuild your site into wordpress or get the company to build the functionality you require into your existing website.

Are the settings correct in Settings/General in your admin panel? Are you using a caching plugin? You can check the siteurl and homeurl directly in the database to make sure they are correct.

Are you saying that you were able to access the admin screen but now you cannot? Is the site still running?
