I had to look inside the sourcecode to find out, that the language files have to be prepended with the string “evt_language-” in their filename. If you have for example translated files for German (language code de_DE)
the correct filenames are:
wp-content/plugins/event-registreation/lang/evt_language-de_DE.mo / .po
Unfortunately the existing files en_US.mo / .po which are delivered with the plugin do not follow this naming scheme so I doubt that they are loaded. They should be renamed to evt_language-en_US.mo / .po.
Another problem is, that the existing en_US files which I took as a basis for my translation do not contain all necessary strings, so I had to make a new extraction of all strings from the sourcecode to get a complete list when I could then translate with Poedit as described by the plugin author above.
In addition there are also still hardcoded english texts in the sourcecode which have to be translate directly there.
Last but not least it is not possible to localize things like the timeformat to the 24hrs format which is used in most non-english countries, also for this I had to modify the sourcecode.
