After disabling all plugins, it seems that the issue was an incompatibility with the TranslatePress plugin. Could you please look into this? I will also contact the TranslatePress support.

Thank you for your help. There was an incompatibility between one of the plugins (Chauffeur Taxi Booking System for WordPress) and the theme (Astra). I changed the theme and it seems to work fine.

No to be honest I did not,

I clicked the Override ‘orderby’ query attribute checkbox.
I also tried to do it programmatically, but I guess I did something wrong.
I did not want to bother this is why i did not mentioned it again:(.
