I think it may have been a case of corrupt database. I restored the MySQL database from a day old backup. The problem seems to have been resolved. At least for the time being.

But if there is some plugin (IntenseDebate, etc.) or client (WordPress for BlackBerry, etc.) misbehaving, I’ll need to keep a close watch.

Thanks for the tip. I cannot get to the admin section either. Get the same error page.

As a result, I cannot change the theme the proper way – via admin. But I moved the themes/my_theme directory out of the way and created a symbolic link so that my_theme points to the default theme. No good.

Since I could not get to the admin panel, I think theme may not have to do with the problem.

Also, like I mentioned in the original report, I tried this database in a clean WP install, with the same result.
