In reply to: Spam generated by my sitedoodlebee – thank you so much for between your thoughts, my hosts and the advice of a friend I have found the most likely problem. I am indeed using a contact form and the permission was too high it seems.
My site is back and the issue resolved.

In reply to: Spam generated by my sitespencerp – thank you for these links. I’ve just printed out the instructions with the hope that tomorrow brings inspiration.
I believe I was using version 2.0.
The irony is I’ve not really suffered with spam as yet but I shall explore the links you’ve provided in this regard too.
I guess essentially I’m concerned that this will happen again and knowing how it’s done hopefully enables me to prevent it. If an upgrade will do this then fine. Having one’s site used in such a way creates quite a uncomfortable feeling.
Again, thank you.

In reply to: Curious and somewhat random editing behaviour of old postsHandySolo,
Thank you so much for responding. I’m conversing with my host at present and it looks like it may indeed be something to do with having mod_security enabled. Whatever the cause, I hope it’s resolved soon and I’m grateful for the pointer.
Cheers.

In reply to: Importing from Blogger – disappearing imagesPoco, thank you for answering. I’m uploading all the images again and now hosting them on flickr. This seems to have done the trick.

On inspecting the posts themselves, I see that a small measure of crud has weaved its way into the photo’s code. When I edit it out and play around with viewing the image, the photo is restored but this seems incredibly tedious, especially if I have to go through a years archives correcting this.
Is there an easier way?
