Cool…maybe this will be the beginning of something we saw in the filmmaking movement Dogme 95

I hereby dub your style Dogme 2005…or should it be “Dogme blogging”…hmmm…

    Looks great ??

Well…I was using WP 1.2 so that might explain it…Anyway…I think I’ll be looking (suggestions are welcome) for a new and more reliable (in every sense of the word) host.

I don’t wanna go through this again, and this whole experience has made me a little…ehhh…hestitant ’bout using WP. Dunno…guess it all relates to me using an old version of WP. I’ll take your word for it when you say that I can trust WP…

I had made an entry ’bout “Indispensable Mac OS X software” which was meant as a help to new macusers. It was just starting to generate quite some hits (after my standards that is…around 2000 a day), so I’m really annoyed ’bout this…..Hope people will find the list again when I switch to a new host.

Checked with my host, and according to them the hacker had probably exploited somekind of vulnerability in WP…they didn’t specify:-(

    Thx. Skippy…I’ll check it out!

Actually…I “know” who the guy is…well….I know his blog (https://usenet.smartlog.dk/), and I know he’s been quite active in various danish usenet groups…his a Troll..and apparently also a hacker. He uses numerous open proxy’s, so I’m afraid he hard to catch….If I got my dirty little hands on him he’d be typing with his nose the rest of his life…grrrr….(don’t worry…I’m just daydreaming).

My host and the domain name service (company?!) might see it as a police matter….I don’t think I’ll be interested in taking it that far though…

Hmmm…I’ve deleted via ftp and also logged in to make an emergency backup of the DB…which returned me a 32 kb file, so I’m afraid the DB’s gone. Latest DB backup dates back to april 20. (a 64 mb file), so it seems like a lot of entries have vanished.

Even if I get a new password from my host..well…what will prevent the hacker from wrecking havoc again? Obviously my host has serious problem with securing the DB…big problem since he hosts around 7000 accounts…

I’ve noticed that both my host and I use the same domain name service (https://gratisdns.dk/) so maybe it’s those guys who’re the weak link…

…sorry, but I don’t know much about these things, so I’m a little lost here….

Hope my host has some kind of backup :-/…right now I feel like giving up blogging….:-(

(Please disregard any bad grammar and misspellings…english isn’t my mother tongue)

Thx Podz…Yup…my host must have changed something,- not sure what though, but it look’s like they’ve fixed it. It’s working now.

    Thx. for your reply Podz…Appreciated…

Thx. Grexe…I’ll give it a try!

Used to have a blog at blogdrive.com and didn’t really like the look of it so I changed to WP…big mistake…my WP looks like cr.. aswell, due to the fact that I don’t have any CSS or php skills (obviously not WP’s fault!!).
My lack of coding skills makes me feel like I’m tied on hands and feet…I see a lot of greatlooking WP blogs and I know how I would want mine to look like, but again the lacking skills in coding prevents me from applying the look and features I want.
I’ve made so many changes to my Trident template, that I simply don’t have the energy to install the extremely cool Kubricks theme and start all over again…Kubrick is really the only theme available I like “out of the box” and which doesn’t need a lot of things done to it to suit my taste.

Anyway…for complete newbies who don’t have the time to learn coding properly, WP can be quite painful customizing. Beginners should, imho, start with maybe blogdrive.com or modblog.com, learn some code and learn how to customizing those blogs a little, and from there move to WP and be creative.

Best thing about WP and the community is how extremely helpful everybody is and how kind the fellow WP users are.
People I don’t even know, have taken the time to write me tutorials, posted answers to my daft questions and have tried to help out in every possible way…and I’m extremely grateful for that.
People have spent a lot of time helping me out. I’m a slow learner when it comes to coding ?? I hold a candidate degree in biology, but for some idiotic reason I’m simply too daft to master coding CSS/php…maybe it’s because I’ve haven’t spent enough time doing it or…well…maybe it’s just not meant to be one of the things I do well (…God knows there’s a lot of things I’m not very good at!)

Just to avoid any confusion: WP is great…It’s my coding skills that blows….to say the least. I know the basics and it’s getting better, but I’m still looking for that great revelation where everything falls into place.

    OK…I’m rambling…time to stop

To sum up: I chose WP because of the helpful and kind folks here in the WP community…

    Hi megiddo

This is probably not very helpful but…

Do you have an upgraded account at blogdrive.com? If you do, you have the option to do a backup of the DB…unfortunately I don’t know how to extract the posts from that DB.

I switched from blogdrive to WP a year ago and had to bite the bullet…I couldn’t find a script or the like to extract the data I needed, but as NMoose writes maybe someone can come up with something…

    Good luck…

Thx. anyway…As you can see I don’t know much about html, so any help is much appreciated ??
