  • This could not get any better. I was forced to upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3 yesterday after HostGator decided to randomly shut down my site for abuse claiming that I was producing SQL queries (ie, server load) that they could not explain.

I’ve been getting the “‘wp_categories’ doesn’t exist” message since the upgrade.

In trying to ascertain what plugin, if any, was causing the problem, I tried out the groovey new ‘categories to tags’ function, which then deleted all my categories — save, of course, for the default one.

So now I have table errors as well as no categories.

How exciting! Can it get better?

Yea, I messed around with that. I don’t think that’s it, or maybe I’m just not tweaking it properly. Ideas or other ideas?

Thanks for the help, the reply… and the compliment on the eyelash post. ;^)

Unf, it didn’t seem to help. :^(

I fixed up the head and body tags (thanks for noticing that… I’m a space shot sometimes) but the floats in the CSS don’t seem to be it. There’s a float:left for the left sidebar, and a float:right for the right sidebar, and a clear:both for the bottom — but that’s it.

    Other ideas?

    Thanks again :^)

Later that day…(aka, meanwhile back at the torpedo factory…):

I fixed it. For anyone else who’s having this problem, there is a seriously huge issue with the so-called “rich visual editor”. And I mean beyond the fact that it sucks to work with.

I have had it unchecked since I first saw it, but for some reason it decided to act up today with the above problems.

Once I figured it out and rechecked it, I found that when I hit the ‘save and continue editing’ it was switching back and forth between showing me the editor and showing me the old-style html write panel.

Rechecking it also cleared up the problem with the file uploader straight away. Now I have it unchecked again, and my fingers crossed that it won’t be a pita.

I hope this helps someone, and I hope that the WP dudes can fix this up for the next version cuz this caused much heartache.

    Thanks

    An update of sorts….

I’m now seeing the file upload panel, but when I attempt to upload a JPG, I get the following error:

“File type does not meet security guidelines.”

    ???
