This isn’t a specific issue with this plugin per se – but with the concept of lazy loading videos in WordPress period.

We implemented lazy loading across a number of sites in our portfolio and saw a steady but serious degradation in impressions in Google Search for “Video” type results – we also saw the corresponding drop in clicks.

Therefore, I’m wondering what Google is seeing and reading (or not reading) on the page when the lazy loading is implemented – and is there a ways to get these impressions and clicks back whilst keeping the lazy loading approach.

As if there isn’t a way to retain the impressions and clicks whilst also lazy loading, there appears to be a cost trade-off to be evaluated – reduction in traffic vs reduction in page speed (and assumed reduction in ability to rank / traffic).

Wondered if anyone else had seen a similar reduction in impressions and clicks from Video type results when implementing (you can see this data within Google Search Console under “performance” and select search type “video”)
