    Thank you Michael,

That explains why that plugin refuses to work at least! wp-smart-sort looks like a good plugin to use with a manually entered custom field, so thanks for that, i’ll implement that for now, but if anyone knows of a plugin that allows a GUI reordering of posts (much like you can do with reordering images in the nextgen-gallery plugin) then I’d be forever in your debt.

I might even try writing my own one in the future. But I’ve a lot of learning to do first I suspect.

    Cheers

Well the second time around I used a wordpress plugin ‘WP-phpMyAdmin’, which I assume has been tested and is working fine for most users. I must say I’m a little wary to use it now, although no-one else seems to have had this problem.

OK, disaster over (for now)…. so I went into the wordpress database area using my hosting backend. I added a new user, deleted the old one and then renamed the new user back to the original and POP! It all came back again.

So it seems the use of phpMyAdmin managed to corrupt my database user account, forcing it to think there was no database. Still no idea why this would happen. Any ideas?
