In reply to: [Plugin: WP Smush.it] Error posting to Smush.itThis plugin isn’t working with Smush.it, never been able to make it work with any version. Just get an “Error posting to Smush.it” message.
It’s probably Yahoo! messing it all up again which is a massive shame as this would be awesome if it worked.

In reply to: site links not workingI decided to delete everything and start again. This time I installed a fresh copy of the latest version of WordPress and all the plugins I needed but kept the old database (it has hundreds and hundreds of posts!).
This time I still see the homepage, but clicking on any of the links takes me to a 404 page.
Just to be clear on this, the live site using an exact copy of the database is working fine. Why is the localhost copy giving me 404 errors on all the posts and pages?
we never blame anyone..we say not compatible
Yeah, but the implication is that the other plugin is the one with the problem. However, that’s simply not true most of the time. It’s because you haven’t coded FCG properly!
Why not just put in the extra bit of effort that it would take to fix the problems?
I know that Brian Gardner used to use FCG, but as far as I can see he’s ditched you now in favour of another plugin. Simply because you don’t bother to support it or update it.
The new Dynamic Content Gallery plugin doesn’t suffer with anywhere near the number of incompatibilities FCG does, because more care was taken coding it!
Sorry to sound harsh, but I’m just telling it the way it is.
Basically FCG is badly coded and the developers would rather bury their heads in the sand and deny the issues. Wouldn’t take them much to fix most of the problems, but there hasn’t been an update to it for over a year.
It’s free so can’t complain about it, but the developers attitude is what annoys me. If it doesn’t work, just admit there are limitations, don’t blame every other plugin developer when it’s YOUR plugin that has the bugs!

In reply to: [Plugin: Subscribe to comments] Theming the pluginOkay, failing that as I’ve had no replies. Any alternative comment subscription plug-ins for WordPres that offer more customisation?

In reply to: How to move live site to localhostHmmm, I deactivated all plugins and managed to get to the dashboard. But now it says my theme is broken! But it works fine on the live site… tried changing it to something else and get another error:
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at C:\xampp\htdocs\techietalk\wp-content\themes\streamline_20\functions.php:43) in C:\xampp\htdocs\techietalk\wp-includes\pluggable.php on line 868
What the hell does that mean in English? ??

In reply to: How to move live site to localhostI’m still having trouble with this, I am also getting errors on my page, and when I try to go to the dashboard (/wp-admin) I just see this:

In reply to: Changing site structureOkay, I got the permalinks sorted I think, my posts are now:
https://www.mysite.com/news/post-title/
I couldn’t figure out how to remove the /category/ part from my categories though. For example, my list of all news items is still:
https://www.mysite.com/category/news/
But posts it link to are located at:
https://www.mysite.com/news/post-title/
How do I fix this part? I couldn’t understand codex article.

In reply to: Page/Post Author option “Admin” not availableI have this problem, bugs happen, but this really should have been fixed by now! I’ve spent ages trying to get a solution and was lucky enough to find this thread eventually.
Thankfully this fix solved the problem, but come on devs… this was a bug reported ages ago. Why has a fix not been added to the core yet?

In reply to: criticism on Plugin and extension managementThat is the nature of Open Source development I’m afraid. You get massive benefits of thousands of people working on the project, but you have discovered the down side to it as well.
It relies on the author maintaining their plug-in and making updates to keep it compatible. If what you need is a common feature, you’ll be well catered for. Too well in some respects, but if not, you can be left out in the cold. The only option normally is to go without, or learn to do it yourself!

In reply to: Remove dashboard accessOkay, I’ve had a change in my site design and think this plug-in could be useful. BUT, when I activate the plug-in it tells me “You are not allowed to view this page.”! EH? I’m the admin, and this plug-in bans ME from the dashboard!
How do I get back to the dashboard?! I have to delete the plug-in, it doesn’t seem to work for me. There is no way of even getting to a log-in screen as the admin. I don’t get it?!
