I’m using Meta slider. And it can add a widget to your homepage. It lets you add the slider widget to any section on you homepage so instead of using the shortcode, you can just go to widget and add your slider.

Same thing happened to me when I enabled jetpack and activated touch support/mobile i think. I just deactivated the whole jetpack plugin
