Nevermind – the installer left the old index file. I deleted it and that fixed it…

I just had wordpress installed and asked not to have everything installed to /wordpress but it happened anyway. The last time I tried to fix this I just destroyed the whole site – it still lays in ruins on another domain. I just went through the instructions and everything is already set as shown in the directions referenced above. The only thing I haven’t tried is setting an absolute path.

Can anyone make this easy? I just want to blog. My site is stockxc.com

– I moved the index.php file from the /blog folder and added the code you gave me.

– I changed the blog address at Options-General, by taking away “/blog”

– I updated Permalinks by clicking “Update Permalinks” (I have them “Date and Name based”.

Now when I go to “View Site” it automatically directs to lastcity.org (good!) but there’s still nothing there.

Do I also need a blank index.php file in the /blog folder? Or am I missing something else?

When you say “this index.php file” do you mean create a new one or grab the file from somewhere in /blog?

And if I do create one, from which kind of basic page template (using Dreamweaver). I don’t see a .php template…

Take a look: the tagline and About this site are the same. I’d like About this site to be more descriptive without cluttering the image at the top.

I finally gave in and had it installed by Install4Free.

Ok I’ve since learned what the path ver/www/vhosts is. I’ve also re-uploaded the files to the server. Same error. I’m thinking there must be some files or links hiding out giving me trouble.

One thing that puzzles me the most is: var/www/vhosts

What the heck path is that???

To answer your question Ivovic: What I am trying to do is to post to my WordPress site (lastcity.org) by using Jott.com

If you haven’t heard of jott.com, check it out, it’s pretty cool.

I have a feeling though that due to jott.com limitations, one can only post to a wordpress.com hosted account rather than my independent lastcity.org wordpress account.

That’s why I was trying to link them.

I have a website: lostcity.org

I’ve loaded wordpress onto it.

During the installation process, wordpress gives you a name a password to use for your website.

This name and password does not work on wordpress’s website, only your own. The difference is, my blog is set up on my own server.

I have since signed up on wordpress’s website for a username and password hoping to bridge the two accounts.

Does that make sense? I know, a little confusing…
