• The “Characters to display” setting might be wider than your sidebar.
• Your theme might not be friendly towards this plug-in. Test with the standard Kubrick theme first.

I just tested, and the Exclude option does work if you just list numbers and not “ID”. The description can be simple, like:

Enter the page IDs to exclude as a comma-separated list. The ID is based on the ID you see in the URL when you edit your posts/pages. For example: “1,2,3”.

Just to let you know, I’m having the same problem with WordPress 2.6.1 and 2.6.2. Caching plug-ins are disabled.

Yes, I’ve tried all those things. WP-Cache is now disabled, and I’ve been applying the WP-dTree settings after every change.

Same problem here. I’ve had to disable this plug-in to get my comments back.
