I have been using this plugin too for years. but unfortunatly it IS 4 years old and seems to flagg up warnings that its, well, basically old.

FYI is was the app. They updated the app to write/upload jpg instead of jpeg and it worked ??

it was working fine, right up until halfway through December last year.

I think a WP update finally killed it. shame, its the only plugin of its kind and its exactly what we need ??

for me, this was caused by Google Chrome AND fartyfox blocking iframes. there is not a lot you can do if your browser is blocking iframes. just assume the public can see them ??

I blog from the WP phone app, and it doesn’t automatically set the feature image, until I get home and go through all my posts and tap “update” ??

So I too would like to request if this can be done “automatically” (as the plugin imply’s)

I use to use “Autoset Featured Image” by “Arefly” – that use to work excellently, but its not been touched for 2 years and I think because for some reason WP has changed its extensions from JPG to JPEG, the plugin has stopped working and the dev isnt’ answering any support requests.

so I switched to this plugin… which also doesn’t work how I’d expect

no, not really. I blog on the fly. So WP automatically adds the JPEG extension – as par its latest update, so my images are not watermarked until I get home and spend the rest of the evening going though all the stuff I’ve done during the day and rename the extension to .jpg… and if i’m going to do that, I may have well added the watermark myself, which I “needed” to happen automatically as I posted, which is the whole point of me using your plugin.

I did some tests and YES.!

Its the image name. Your plugin doesn’t work for .jpeg but does for .jpg…
…which kinda stuffs me up as the WP app ONLY uploads as .jpeg

Basically, I took an image – 1234.jpg and uploaded it using the web gui on a PC. And it worked.

I then renamed the SAME image as 1234.jpeg, uploaded it and your plugin failed.

I believe its the image name format.

When I uploaded an image from my phone to the website using WordPress app prior to the 14th December, it use to upload “IMG_1234.JPG”

Since 16th December, it uploads “img_1234.jpeg”

Its at this change your plugin stopped working.

On the app store, I can see that WordPress updated there ap on the 16th December.

I’m not sure what to do now, I think its a WordPress App update that’s kicked your plugin out of joint ??

I find the cron job doesn’t always work.. BUT you have to understand that this is normal for some hosts ??

If “twitter’s” call servers are busy or your web-host is caching files/refreashing DNS then the Cron job will look like its failing, when in actual fact, twitter has timed you out OR your host is looking at a cache.

its just bad timing. trust me, manual posting can fail too.

this is with everything, not just Twitter posts to Blog.

I got a few issues with the new plugin too.

The content/page title taking up 1/4 of the page – That’s ugly, how can I remove it.? I don’t have titles on the desktop page, I don’t want them on the mobile version too.

And the main site title in the header use to “shrink to fit” now it doesn’t so I’ve lost more than half my title.

And finally I use to like the way you could choose the header font colour. now you cannot. ??
