My host is https://www.wealthyaffiliate.com. It’s a site where people sign up to learn how to make an online business. They were no help with either issue. You said you recommend bbPress. What about bbp style pack? It’s for customizing forums. Do you know if that’s considered reliable? Does it have a history of working well with bbPress? I disabled all plugins except bbpress and bbp style pack and both issues remain. My site is https://thegamingden.siterubix.com. I don’t know what you mean by “post a link to where you’re adding this on your site”. Please re-phrase. There is 1 possibility. The problems might be related to the sub-domain that Wealthy Affiliate uses for free sites. Noone told me that. It’s just my idea. A free site is on a siterubix.com sub-domain. I’ll be moving to a paid domain later.

I’m trying to set up a forum and have 2 issues. There are many sub-forums and posting works fine but registration doesn’t work. “Authorization required” is the error. The plugin is bbPress. The support forum says it’s a server issue and I should contact the host which I did. They have no idea. The 2nd issue is changes I make to some forum options, using plugin bbp style pack, are never saved. Even after reinstalling, my chagnes are ignored. Support forum for bbp style pack says the plugin is fine. So I was thinking I should get rid of both plugins and try something else. So I was wondering if you know of a plugin that makes forums that is reliable and easy to use and has plenty of options for customizing. If options for customizing are limited I would need a plugin like bbp style pack. I want to avoid experimenting with every plugin that makes forums until I find a good one. Thanks for any suggestions.

Can I pick your brain about something off-topic? How much do you know about forums?

Forums, Tips and Troubleshooting have sub-items. The font is too small. I also want to change the color. Thanks.

I tried “Reset Settings” the same day you gave me your “solution”. I found it on my own. Guess what? It didn’t work! After resetting the settings on the “Topic / Reply Styling” and “Topics Index Styling” tabs, the forum was unchanged. Sticky posts still had an orange background and admin links were still red even though no colors were set for either of those things. I uninstalled / reinstalled the plugin. It’s exactly the same!

If you had no intention of troubleshooting it further, why did you tell me to keep you updated? Think about that while I refresh your memory. You ended your first post with “If that works- let me know, if it doesn’t then …let me know !!” I tried what you said and then told you the results. So, I did what you said!! 5 days went by and you didn’t respond. I thought I had waited long enough so I submitted another post and then you bite my head off. If you had no intention of troubleshooting it further then why did you tell me to keep you updated? I took the time to write that second post because you told me to keep you updated. I did exactly what you said and you bite my head off. What a waste of time! You wasted my time!

Without resolving this issue, you asked for money when I asked how to rewrite “Create new topic”. You really expect someone to pay money when another issue isn’t resolved and you just stop responding?

It’s clear to me that this plugin is very buggy. That’s why I’m having this problem.

It’s also clear to me that you don’t know how to fix it even though you wrote it!!! LOL

Since you’re not smart enough to fix your own buggy plugin, I have to use it with the activate checkbox on the CSS location tab unchecked. I’ll use it like this while I look for a plugin to replace yours.

Spend some time debugging your plugin!!

In the future if you don’t intend to troubleshoot something, don’t tell people to keep you updated!!!!!!

So no help here? I uninstalled / reinstalled the plugin and it’s the same. Background color for stickys is orange and admin links are red even though no colors are set for those 2 things and I just reinstalled the plugin. This must mean that when you uninstall a plugin the settings are not deleted (it’s certainly true for this plugin). They’re left behind. Then, if you reinstall the plugin, the old settings are re-enabled. There must be a way to delete that info so when I reinstall the plugin it will be like I’m installing it for the first time.

Weirder and weirder. On the Topics Index Styling tab, in addition to what I said in my first post, I had also set the background color for stickys and super stickys (section 9) to orange. None of it worked so I did what you said. Restarting the browser didn’t help so I entered the CSS code you gave me in the CSS location tab and clicked the Activate checkbox. Now the background color of the stickys is what I set it to (orange) and admin links is what I set it to (red). So it works now.

So I set the background color of the stickys to something else because orange turned out to be ugly. I also set admin links to blue. I clicked Save and checked my site and it was still using orange as the background color for stickys and red for admin links. I unchecked the Activate box and everything went back to the defaults. I closed the browser, deleted web cache, restarted the browser, re-checked the Activate box and it’s the same: orange as background for stickys and red for admin links. I went back several times to make sure I had set them to different colors and I had. I can’t get rid of orange for background and red for admin links.
Subscribe does move to the right and corners are rounded so those 2 work now with the CSS code entered.
I can’t find a setting that gives you the option to change colors for title, author and “started by” after the post is closed. These are fine when the post is open. It’s only when a normal or sticky post is closed that everything becomes grey.
    Thanks for your help.
