In reply to: [Theme My Login] Missing Login PageThanks for the hint to use /Login (capital L) to get to the login. Mine is showing a directory listing both login and logoff links – no form as it used to have. I am running Multisite and since I am the only user so far I have been using the work around of deleting the /login/ directory. Which is promptly recreated by something, but I get on. Using /Login will help a bunch.

In reply to: Domains pointing at Multi SiteI’m not very good with words. Too many injuries through the years. My multisite is set up for the new sites to be: name.domain.net (such as ethaiaol.webpaws.net) which I direct to name.com (ie. ethaiaonline.com) The root site is straight off of the root: /home/me/public_html/wp-content If I log on to ethaiaonline.com then it doesn’t recognize my admin login, even though it is listed in the site list. If I try to login to ethaiaol.webpaws.net/wp-admin (the URL from the Dashboard link of the site list) it switches to ethaiaonline.com/wp-admin Since it is being cranky, it won’t recognize my signin and won’t let me create another. The only way I have found is to disconnect the other domain name from the site until I’m done then turn it back on.

In reply to: [Minimatica] Edit Slider CaptionsDid you try to simply fill the excerpt box with spaces? Maybe just one little period?

In reply to: [Minimatica] [Theme: Minimatica] Gallery SliderI tried to put more than four on the slider, but I couldn’t get the slider to start further left and when there was five or six the following pages had only one. I gave up and decided to simply lock the first three I wanted (four means the whole thing is ignored) and go with that. Those were the problems I had that I couldn’t solve. I’ve tried several others but like Minimaatica the best. So far, but after putting so much tine into figuring it out if I did switch it had better be a really nice skin.

In reply to: [Minimatica] [Theme: Minimatica] Gallery SliderThere is a setting that makes a list rather than just go to the content. Go to Minimatica Theme Options and slide “Category View” or “Tag View” to Gallery instead of Blog. I can’t remember which, although I think the slider is Category and the words below might be Tag – so maybe do both. It won’t hurt to mess around. I made a specific Category for things that would be listed under the Blog Category.
Edit –
I just checked. On Category=Gallery, you get the real page when you click on a picture already in the slider. Tag=Gallery gives you an odd slider window (with only the members of those tags) that you click on and get the regular window. Tag=Blog gives that list you were talking about (clicking on the words below the slider) Category=Blog of course gives you the list view for that category.Isn’t fine tuning fun! I can spend hours at it until I get it like I think I want it…

In reply to: [Minimatica] [Theme: Minimatica] Gallery SliderGallery should work. But you have to populate your gallery. Only the pictures that are IN the gallery (look at the media tab for the page – if there isn’t a gallery, you won’t get a page) I haven’t found a painless way to get a gallery. Easiest is to upload what you want. Second, but harder to make work, is to create a WordPress gallery so that you get the gallery entries, then delete it (if you don’t you’ll have two galleries) If you are using a shadow box, then you have a neat pop-up that lets you scroll through all the photos. (otherwise they just dead-end by linking away from your site) I use Lightbox Plus for mine.
Aw heck, here is mine… https://mydigitaloregon.com (not sure I gave it before)

In reply to: [Minimatica] [Theme: Minimatica] Gallery SliderEach image needs to be on a post. When you are writing the post, look to the right near the publish button and you will see a list of templates. The default template DOES NOT generate a post that will be used by the slider. There are some templates like “Gallery” which will. Well, basically anything other than “Standard” I think – I use Gallery, Image, Aside, and Link. Also, take a look down that side a bit. There will be something that says, “Set Featured Image”. THAT is the photo which will be used on the slider.
While you are making a post look way to the top of the post editor and see that you turn on all the bells and whistles for the page by clicking “Screen Options” and checking the boxes. The box that you want though is the one that says, “Excerpt”. The excerpt is the text that you can use if you have written a lot in the post. If you write a long post then the program tries to put it all there, resulting in the bottom of the photo half full of words with … at the end. Then use the “Excerpt” box (under the text box someplace) and put just the text you want in the caption of the slider photo.
Some people have found it necessary to size their photos for the slider, I use the built-in function where you set the size when you insert it. That part is when you click “Show” while in the Media Gallery and chose a size – Thumbnail, Medium, Large, Full Size. I choose the size closest to the slider photos and then save and click “Use as featured image” Elsewhere you can set just what dimensions are Thumb, Medium, Large, and Full.
As for making the slider work, other than the system requirement (it is a SWF I believe) then these steps should work. It took me about three days of non-stop cussing to figure this out and now I’ve been using it so long that I don’t think about it. So, that means it is hard to describe what worked for me – but I try.

In reply to: [Minimatica] [Theme: Minimatica] Gallery Slider@jmudphoto I had a similar problem at first. Now it is working and I don’t have to resize anything. (photos are over 2,000 long side) Make sure that you replace your featured photo on your post and that it has at least 600 x 400 dimension. WordPress has the lovely habit of using cached photos so sometimes I have to fake it out and switch them so that it refreshes then I switch back. I’m trying to do it as lazy as possible.

In reply to: [Minimatica] Edit Slider CaptionsThe feature is already built in without editing anything. If you look below the main text body of your post you will see a box that says “Excerpt” Whatever you type in there will be what is shown under the title in the slider.
If you don’t see the box called Excerpt then go to the top of the page and click on the tab that says “Screen Options” and make sure there is a check mark there. I think I had been using WordPress a month before I found that tab. There is a different one for each page.
