In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Breadcrumbs Issuees A.J and I from Total Theme found a bug with your shortcode for breadcrumbs. so We used another shortcode for his theme that hooks into Yoast.
Hi Robert,
This is Aj the theme author. Adrian assigned the ticket over to me so I could help you out personally. Unfortunately I can’t access your site logins either, but I don’t think it’s really needed.
I went ahead and tested the Yoast breadcrumbs shortcode on a development server and can confirm it’s not working in Total nor the default WordPress theme so I can confirm it’s not a theme related issue. I even tested it inside a Gutenberg block as they suggested from their forum (many other people are complaining about the shortcode not working) and it won’t work when I test: https://a.cl.ly/04uO7jR1 – so it definitely looks like a plugin issue.
Now, Total actually includes built-in support for Yoast SEO so you don’t have to use their shortcode, the theme will display Yoast breadcrumbs by default. I see you have inserted the shortcode for the breadcrumbs so it’s under the logo, you can just modify your code to use the [vcex_breadcrumbs] shortcode instead which is the theme’s breadcrumbs (but will return Yoast breadcrumbs if enabled)

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Breadcrumbs IssueYes, you have an error in the Yoast coding we worked around it.
I was able to repeat the bug 2x on 3 different sites on the client’s different web hosts. When upgrading to 7.4 redirects got disabled

Okay just for troubleshooting’s sake I upgraded back up to 7.4 and found when I did the upgrade all redirects. Became disabled.. I enabled them and its working fine in 7.4 as you say. Maybe when people update their PHP version it might be good to tell people to reactivate their URLs?
Thank you BTW John!!

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast Breadcrumb shortcode broken againOkay, Guys –
I finally got a chance to work on this today. Well, I transferred a fresh copy to the dev server. Updated the WP version and Yoast breadcrumbs worked fine so I moved it over to my live site all is now working one can only guess that a rare paid version of a plugin that was updated today was causing the issue.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast Breadcrumb shortcode broken againI rolled back to WP ver 5.5 and the problem went away and running Yoast 14.9. When I bring WordPress up to date to ver 5.5.1 the shortcode shows and breadcrumbs are gone. I will put this on our dev server over the weekend and try and troubleshoot the issue. AJ is pretty good with the Total theme updated lately almost monthly.
I Will let you know how it works out so please don’t close the thread up till I get back to you before Monday
