Resolved.

Adding remove_filter( 'body_class', 'bp_get_the_body_class', 10, 2 ); to functions.php fixed the problem

Feel silly not checking that first, just found it unlikely as it only affected front page.

It seems somehow BuddyPress is interfering with the css.

I am wondering about the above aswell. As I am using it on a WPMU install, I would love to change it to Sign-up teaser/link.
