You are right David.
The problem was with Photoswipe plugin.
I saw in their support section a few more people complaining about the same issue. Also, support issues are not addressed by Photoswipe’s team for the last several months.
I deactivated it and am using “Tiled Galleries Carousel Without Jetpack” plugin instead.
