I have no plugins that have changed or that should affect my password login, but I’m in the same boat as the folks above. I do not have WP-Engine.
Every time I get an email responding to my request for a new password saying click this link to reset my password I do so and get this error before I even have a chance to put a new password into my installation.
Error: Your password reset link appears to be invalid. Please request a new link below.
It is not at all reassuring that this error was reported 7 months ago and another one with the same issue was three YEARS ago and apparently there’s no answer.
Does no one from WP read these forums?

I’ve updated all my plugins and themes and all my problems have gone away.
Good for you.
Some of us use plugins whose authors appear to have disappeared. They have not updated the plugin and they can’t be found to ask them to do so.
This is not, mind you, a unique plugin. The one I’m dealing with enables my site to be read on a mobile device, surely something most WP users would agree is desirable.
Ah. Thank you. If I’m reading the errors above correctly the plugin with the bug is the one which shrinks the screen for mobile phone use. At least it’s not all ten or so I’m using.
Yeah, I found it. You didn’t describe it as a plugin, which threw me off. I just installed it. I’ll go test now.
Thanks.

Ok, I select “New Post” and see the toolbar, but above the post screen is this stuff:jQuery Migrate Helper — Warnings encountered

Please make sure you are using the latest version of all of your plugins, and your theme. If you are, you may want to ask the developers of the code mentioned in the warnings for an update.Should I care? Or do I/we just wait for WP to fix the flaw?
Thanks. Uh, where do I find JQuery Migrate Helper? ??
I am having the same problem as those folks above. I was rolling right along, upgraded to WP 5.5, and suddenly the toolbar on the new post screen is gone, and I can’t input tags or even select tags from the master list (which is still there but useless at the moment).
I tried switching from Chrome to Firefox; no change
I tried deactivating Classic Editor plugin and reactivating; no change
When I DID deactivate Classic Editor I was able to add tags to my post. When I go to the Updates page thinking I could roll back the upgrade I see no way to do it, and when I click on the “Help” button in the upper right absolutely nothing happens.
So it would seem there’s a bug in the latest version of either WP or Classic Editor. Testing failure?

In reply to: Recent comments widget not updating with new commentsBumping this to take it back to the top, I hope.
Now if either of you could explain why WP’s basic “recent comments” widget (not a plugin, the default one in the WP installation) doesn’t work any longer…
Thanks to both of you. I deleted the folder and reinstalled, which certainly solved the problem (if it hadn’t it would REALLY have been news, right?). I had to reeducate myself on using cPanel, which is always useful.
That’s a thought. Might solve the problem, but doesn’t explain what happened.

In reply to: Recent comments widget not updating with new commentsI’m using Disqus, I should say, but it’s not a problem on my other blog.

In reply to: Recent comments widget not updating with new commentsNo. Where do I find it?
Okay, I deleted the WP default “recent comments” widget and added yours. I got the same result — no comments appearing later than those from about five blog posts ago.
It doesn’t look like it’s the widget’s problem, it’s something else.
Thanks for your suggestions.
