I just emailed you the diagnostics you requested.

Plugins I have that could possibly alter or impede media are:
– ShortPixel Image Optimizer
– Enable Media Replace (by Shortpixel)

In fact, when I view a presskit page for the first time after a change, I see the Shortpixel icon in the admin bar, with an exclamation mark next to it. Not sure why.

I tested out, uploading a new image, with mixed-case letters for the icon, and sure enough, the same bug appeared.

I wish I had time to test more thoroughly for you but I don’t.

The first sections, labelled “Posts” is the WordPress “All Posts” screen. The UI here is normal and correct.

The next two show Redirect’s “404 logs” screen from two different sites.

Hello everyone. The developer of this plugin rarely responds to support requests. They recommend using their own support ticket system but good luck getting replies or proper help.

You might as well hide that option then. No sense in letting people THINK they are getting a hyphen when they are not.

I spent a lot of time searching through all my settings trying to figure out where that darn en-dash was coming from! And the reason I noticed only now (after using your plugin for months) was seeing it reported through “Smallseotools” SEO checker.

ONE THING THOUGH: If generating a hyphen is a security problem, then what about all those pages and posts that everyone on the interwebs has with hyphens between words? This is now the standard instead of spaces or underscores. if-this-is-an-acceptable-url-then-why-is-your-title-generator-vulnerable?=question

Furthermore, there are some weird things going on with images shown my MLF that no longer actually exist. I deactivated the plugin, activated the reset plugin. Did a database reset. Deactivated the reset plugin and reactivated the main MLF plugin. Did new SYNCs and all, and it still shows a folder as containing several images that actually no longer exist (verified via FTP).

I just filed a support ticket through your site because the social sharing links don’t work for Twitter and Linkdin!

Also, you should consider showing a modal instead of opening a new browser window.

AND ALSO, the option to delay showing the button “Show after timeout?” doesn’t work. I have it checked on and set to 3000 ms but it appears right away.

OK. will you be updating the plugin so it doesn’t throw up a big red warning from WordPress ? Even though you say it’s benign, it doesn’t exactly instill confidence in the plugin’s code quality. (Not trying to be harsh here, but it’s reality. Think about how many people may have encountered this, uninstalled and moved on without complaining to you?)

No I did not deactivate plugins or change theme. Doing these things on a live site is uhh… anxiety inducing to say the least. I’ll try to make a staging copy to experiment in…

I did some further testing and what is happening is the CSS color for the text is over-riding the color of the icon.
