In reply to: [Customizr] Static background with scrolling contentHi,
Thank you for the response, and thanks for for compliment, much appreciated. I haven’t had time to try anything out yet but I’ll let you know when I do.
I’ll mark this as resolved and post again if I have issues with implementation.
Thank you again,
daniel

In reply to: [Customizr] Static background with scrolling contentHello again,
Thank you and sorry for not getting back to you sooner. (I’ve been busy with other parts as you know I imagine).
I tried what you suggested and strangely it seems to do the same as when I had the “main-wrapper” with the background. This is what I have at the moment with the syntax you recommended:
body.page-id-123 { background: url('xxxx.png') no-repeat center #FAFAFA !important ; margin-bottom: 0; margin-top: 0; }
Maybe I’m misunderstanding what each element in the page is called and where it is so I’ll try to put it in other words:
What I would really like is:
The header as I have it (white). The footer idem (white).
In between them a background stretching from side to side (full width) but which doesn’t scroll down. A static background the width and height of the screen which, on scrolling, would remain in position and only the content to scroll upward until it reaches the end and the footer comes up.I’m not sure if this is possible. Researching a bit (not much) I found this. Do you think I could try to apply something from here to the page? If so, which one would you recommend me to try and (maybe I’m pushing it a bit much now, just say) would I need major changes to the codes or would a kinda “cut&paste” approach work?
Thank you very much.
daniel

In reply to: [Customizr] Centre navbar including social iconsHi,
Interestingly using
.brand.span12 { float: none; }
renders the logo “linkless” whereas the logo links to “home” using both the one I mentioned previously and this one I just tried for the sake of it (please remember I am almost illiterate when it comes to coding.
.brand.span10 { float: none; }
I wouldn’t have a clue why, but I hope it’s useful to you.
The social icons are working fine for me, I just changed some parameters and and they work just fine now. I can send you what I did to the custom css if that helps.
Thanks for everything,
daniel

In reply to: [Customizr] Centre navbar including social iconsHi, just a quick something…
I just noticed that my logo had lost its “back to home” linking capability, so I replaced the new code you put in the updated snippet with the equivalent part from the old snippet:
/* Center the logo */ .brand.span10.offset1 { float: none; }
Now it seems to work fine.
Just to let you know.
Best,

Much appreciated.

In reply to: [Customizr] Centre navbar including social iconsThank you very much,
I’m sorry to say there’s a but… it still seems to be a bit strange. The menu seems to pile up to the right on two levels rather than all in one line. I believe there’s enough space for all of it to fit in one line, including the social media icons.
As well as this, the SM icons don’t seem to work….

As I wrote the above I thought: “you’ve not tried hard enough!”, so I went back and started playing around with every value I though might be relevant, adding paddings and margins and other stuff until things started to happen.. I’ve finally managed to get it looking more or less as I wanted it to, as you can see.
Thank you very much for everything!

In reply to: [Customizr] Static background with scrolling contentThank you, I’m trying to get it to work on a specific page rather than the main body of all pages, but I’m not being very successful…
tried:
.page-id-123 body { background: url('/wp-content/themes/uploads/mycity_background2.png') no-repeat center #FAFAFA !important ; margin-bottom: 0; margin-top: 0; }
and
body { .page-id-123 background: url('/wp-content/themes/uploads/mycity_background2.png') no-repeat center #FAFAFA !important ; margin-bottom: 0; margin-top: 0; }
and other variations… but I think I’m just typing variations blindly… which one will work? thank you.

In reply to: [Customizr] Centre navbar including social iconsThank you, but this is exactly what I already have and when the social icons are not hidden the whole thing seems go askew. The only thing I changed from the Snippet (apart from the php part regarding social media icons) was text-align from left to center:
/* Variable number of floating elements */ .navbar .nav { float: none; width: 100%; text-align: center; }
Apart from this it’s all as in the Snippet. The fact that I have the navbar centered might be affected by the social icons, and this is what I can’t find the solution to.
Thank you.

In reply to: [Customizr] Centre navbar including social iconsOh, and they also lack their linking attribute. (the social media icons, that is)

In reply to: [Customizr] Updated Customizr problemDon’t worry about the jargon, I’d better get used to it!
Thank you very much!Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Customizr] Updated Customizr problemThank you very much. I’ll look into this. Especially the difference between delta changes and copying the core file and adding to it, because I’m not sure what delta changes are.

In reply to: [Customizr] Updated Customizr problemHello all,
I’m sorry for the delay in replying, as I mentioned, quite caught up with other things.
I really appreciate your help but I’ve not been able to solve it except by completely deleting my child theme. I’d used the child-themify.1.0.1 plugin to create the CT but I also added other folders (my bad).
I have a wordpress backup folder I suppose I could use to reset everything but then I would have the same problem updating customizr.
I think I’ll use my style.css and the functions.php on a new child-theme, but if the same happens again I’m not sure what I’ll do to know what exactly the incompatibility is. Posting my style.css and functions.php might be a bit much to ask you guys, huh?
I’ll mark this as resolved but I’ll appreciate any other suggestions; and I suppose you’ll hear from me again.
Lots of thanks,
daniel

In reply to: [Customizr] Updated Customizr problemI just did the same the the style.css file, simply uploading the one from the customizr folder to my child theme folder. So, the functions.php, the style.css and the parts folder are all the same as the ones in the customizr folder and yet it still doesn’t load.
This is so frustrating, is there a way of reversing the update, back to the previous version? I backed my childtheme when updating wordpress a few weeks ago and I suppose I could use this to reinstall my child theme onto the previous version of customizr. Is this possible?
Thanks
daniel

In reply to: [Customizr] Updated Customizr problemHi rdell,
Thank you for your rapid response! I really had no clue as to how to go about looking for those “hooks” and comparing to my customisations. So, I downloaded the functions.php and the whole parts folder of my child theme for safekeeping. Then I copied the functions.php and the parts folder from the customizr theme folder to my child-theme folder. I expected it to work no problems as I’ve basically only got customizations in the stylesheet.css now, but I suppose there are still issues unresolved.
I’ll keep looking into it but maybe you could give me another pointer.
Thank you.(I’ll be away for a bit so please excuse my delay in replying)
