In reply to: Email Notifications of New Comments Not sendingAfter I posted this question months ago, I talked with a web developer. It appeared as though my email notifications weren’t getting through to gmail or outlook. They set me up with a domain email and had everything routed to that email instead of gmail or outlook. It has worked great! I found out that gmail and outlook blacklist certain things as spam, it won’t even make it to your spam folder. Mine wasn’t an issue with people getting emails, but rather I wasn’t getting notifications when I had a new comment. It has worked since changing my email to my domain name. I used similar steps that @toweller used! Hope this can help you @drchelseand ??

In reply to: Comment notification email not sent@paige.sloan bluehost tried everything possible and it seems as though my personal gmail account was black listing my domain host notification. They ended up setting me up with a new email with my domain name and then forwarding it to me gmail. It was the other thing that worked. Do you also use gmail?

In reply to: Email Notifications of New Comments Not sending@luke Cavanagh it did not fix the issue. Bluehost had to set me up with another email and forward it to my other personal email. They weren’t able to determine the issue.

In reply to: Comment notification email not sentJetpack emailed me back and said:
“The comments on your site are not controlled by Jetpack. I recommend asking Bluehost for more information about why some comments are not making it through to their servers, and if they’re not sure, then I recommend asking for more troubleshooting steps you can take to find out.”
I’m getting frustrated because bluehost keeps telling me its a WP or plugin issue, but everyone else is telling me it’s a hosting issue. I will try calling them again today.
@kmessinger I will try out that other plugin too.

In reply to: Comment notification email not sentI do as well. I have had a couple of issues with it the past week or so. I wasn’t sure if that was related at all. The other strange thing that is happening in my wordpress dashboard, the top right comment notification icon usually lights up orange the minute I get a new comment. That has stopped working too. When I click on that icon now, all it does it acts like it is loading, it no longer shows up with the new comments.

In reply to: Comment notification email not sent@nostra I used the plugin and it sent a test email just fine to multiple emails. This morning I had one comment notification, but once again I logged in and saw 5 or 6 others that I was not emailed about. Do you use the jetpack plugin by any chance?

In reply to: Comment notification email not sentI am having the issue with both of my URLS chemistrycachet.com and amsacademicservices.com.
@nostra My hosting company is bluehost. I have talked with some other people who use bluehost and wordpress, but they don’t seem to be having issues. What is your hosting company?
I already reached out to the makers of my themes just to see what they said. Both said it was a wordpress problem, not a theme.
@kmessinger I downloaded that plugin, but it has no details on how to use it, so I am not sure what to do from there. I will say that I get emails for everything else (like backups, etc), but not comments. Although a few get through occasionally, the majority aren’t. We have tried deactivating all the plugins last week and still had the problems. Even though both websites use a different theme, I tried switching themes on each blog and testing out the comments, that still didn’t help the problem, so it doesn’t seem to be theme or plugin related.
This all started about a week and a half ago. Today I had about 20 comments total and received only one email saying I had a new comment on a post.

In reply to: Comment notification email not sentI am so glad you posted this question because this is the exact same situation happening with me.
After over a week of talking with anyone I know, my hosting company said what is happening is their servers aren’t even being notified of all new comments. One or two get through, but not the majority of them, so I am not getting the email notifications that I typically have over the past year. They told me it is either a WP configuration problem, or something with a plugin. I deactivated all plugins, and it still doesn’t work. They said there hasn’t been any change to their servers or anything on that end, so I am at a loss for what to do. I would be interested in what someone can do for help since I have talked with just about everyone I can, including asking for help on this support forum last week.
Mine is showing all social referrals except pinterest, which is my largest source of traffic. As of this morning it completely disappeared!
The exact same thing happened to me this morning. Pinterest is my top traffic source and this morning, it stopped showing up completely, although site traffic count is correct, just not showing pinterest!
I seem to also being having issues with my email notification system to which has been going on for over a week and I can’t get anyone to help! My hosting company says it is a plugin problem…

In reply to: Email Notifications of New Comments Not sendingYes, everything is good with the email address. I continue to get the emails from my back up and everything else on my site. It is only the comment notification email that I am not receiving. I have talked with a few web developers and they also said it is the phpmailer function in wordpress. They said to contact wordpress to get it figured out, and that it what I am trying to do.

In reply to: Email Notifications of New Comments Not sendingI talked with my host provider about that and they said it hasn’t changed. After they looked around on everything, they determined it was something with the PHPmailer function probably from when wordpress updated. The problem is I cannot find anyone to help me with that issue.
