Got an update on this- I can’t see any errors on my screen, but using the Network tab when I use the developer tools on my browser- I can see that on the admin-ajax.php file there was an error message saying wp-cron.php was returning a 404 error (the file is in the directory as normal). After visiting your FAQs I tried scheduling a post but that went to ‘missed post’ I’ve tried changing the permissions, as your site suggests- this appears to have gotten rid of the message but the site is still not backing up.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Can’t see any warnings or errors.

In terms of slow queries, there was only one consistent query from another plugin. I deactivated this and tried the backup again – no luck.

I’ve updated to the latest version of BackupWordpress (ver 3.6.3.1).

Strangely, when switching to database only- it seems to almost instantly reload the page. It would appear it’s not even attempting to back the site uo for some reason – I don’t know if that helps with troubleshooting this..

I checked through server logs after running a successful backup on a different site, and I can’t see any direct differences.

I’ve installed Query monitor, but I’m not sure what I’m looking for. The only queries I seem to be able to see are select option queries.

Could you advise on what to look for in Query Monitor?

I’ll Install query monitor and see what I can find. Will reply when I know more-

I can confirm that the scheduled backups are not working either.

Looking through the server logs, I can’t see any errors or processes ending early, it actually looks Ok.

I’ll compare this to the logs of a working domain and see if I can find any differences.

Quick Update on this – still having issues. We have tried the following:

    • Increasing exec time (although I don’t believe this is the issue
    • Rolling back the PHP version to PHP 5.3.
    • Using the beta version of backupwordpress – whilst this stops (or appears to stop) the calculating size message- the backup process still appears the same.

Because this is ending so quickly (the page reloads maybe 3 or 4 seconds after I click scan now) – then I’m leaning towards this being a javascript issue. Is there a way tell if this is the case? I can’t see anything in the console but wondering if there is anything I should look for.

    Thanks,
    Lewis.

The max exec time is 30 seconds – I’ve just tried this on another domain, set up on the same server with the same settings for PHP (such as max exec time) – and it worked fine.

I suppose that suggests it would be one of the plugins on my wordpress install- I tried disabling Wordfence but it still did not work.

The hosting is with webfusion- usually the plugin is simply activate and it runs instantly.
