So here’s a screenshot I’ve taken just now:

It seems to go a little longer today since finalising it’s sync, but maybe more like a 10 minute window or something. So in the screenshot you can see it last generated 3 mins ago, but the last change on the site itself was about 4 hours earlier (some new products being added).

Before taking that screenshot I saw the message saying succesfully generated 8 minutes ago.

I also enabled logging and here’s a sample of what’s in the logs:

Might be a bit tricky to find the image as all the media is stored offsite on an AWS S3 bucket, but that answers my question.

Finding those images may be a bit tricky, as there’s over 20k images on the site, any tips for maybe flagging which images could be the culprits?

Turns out it was just a matter of manually updating the premium WC plugins, I didn’t realise they didn’t automatically pull in updates with WordPress’ plugin updates.

I’ll make sure to open a new thread next time.

@grapplerulrich did you resolve this at all? I’m also experiencing this same issue.

So far our best fix has just been to export with Save for web (legacy) instead which doesn’t result in the same issue.

Also just started experiencing this error. Looks like maybe a compatabiity error with select2.

Thanks for the reply. We never actually turned on object caching so I’m not sure how we ended up with it on our server in the first place.

Is there an easy way to delete these files? We tried deleting the folders on cli, but the server slower to a crawl and after an hour it barely touched the sides.

Actually, sorry still experiencing some issues with this.

When new images are added to the sites, the custom thumbnail sizes aren’t always being converted to their webp counterparts. If I check the S3 I can see the main fullsize image has a conversion, but the worpdress thumbs don’t.

Running the bulk optimiser fixes this.

As we’re using CDN for the images, I have the force webp version enabled, but obviously this is resulting in a broken image until I manually run bulk optimiser.

Any ideas?

Sorry for late reply – as an update this actually turned out to be an issue where our webserver was also attempting a WEBP conversion process at the same time as EWWW, which we hadn’t correctly disabled.

An amendment to this – it’s actually successfully converting the full size image to webp, but none of the thumbnail sizes.

The issue is due to the Yoast storing the URL as a string instead of a reference to an object. I’ve passed on your feedback to the plugin developer.

In the meantime, if anyone else is facing this issue, there’s a filter that can convert output URLs which fixes the issue with output:
