In reply to: Permalinks and 404 Errors, only sometimes?!Forgot to mention that when I reset the permalink everything is fine for a while, sometimes a few clicks and other times hours and hours of browsing. Please, anyone?

In reply to: Deleting a Subsite, Need to Move BP and BBpress to main siteOkay, but let’s go down hypothetically the road where I don’t care where bbpress is installed but I want to move buddy press over to the main site from the subsite where it is installed and network activated from. Is it as simple as going around to the cpanel and moving the buddy press file from subsite to main site? Or is there another way to do it, and is it going to also be a nightmare? I was thinking it may be easy to just delete buddy press and reinstall on the main site?

In reply to: Deleting a Subsite, Need to Move BP and BBpress to main siteYes I do. I wish I could copy and paste it to the main site. Basically, I’m just wanting to delete the subsite and move/recreate everything on the main. The only difference to the user should be the forums now have the same theme as the main site rather than the subsite, and would be at main.com/forums rather than main.com/subsite/forums
I changed the stream url to reflect the above, however the problem is still the same. I am sure all the audio is mp3, it is all from my home server.

In reply to: Want link to subsite on main menuAh! Adding the www in fixed the problem. I’m new at WordPress and am still figuring the little things out that make life easier, like checking permalink every time I get an unexpected 404, and now this lol. Thanks so much! ??

In reply to: Want link to subsite on main menuMika, yes I did remember the https:// so what is in the URL box of the link when I go appearances — menu — link is https://main.com/subsite1. When I click the link it is on the main.com page but it looks like it is working and refreshing but it just reloads main.com.

In reply to: Want link to subsite on main menuI try and do that for each main page of the subsites and get the result above. I go to appearances- menu – link – and enter the url main.com/subsite and it just goes to main.com when the link is clicked.

In reply to: New Multisite Install Trouble with Subdomains and WildcardI should also say I’ve noticed this: even though I get an e-mail saying the new site was created, i go and look in the file manager and the subdomain folder was not created anywhere. I am at a loss.

In reply to: New Multisite Install Trouble with Subdomains and WildcardOkay, that bit is gone. I tried it with and without and it doesn’t seem to make a difference, honestly. I did make sure I created the *.domain.com. It shows up in the public_html folder as a subfolder named ‘wildcard.’ When I try and add a new site through the wp dash it creates the site and it shows up in the corner in the list of network sites. It even send me the e-mail saying the new site was created. However, when I try and go to the address of the new site or follow the ‘visit site’ link from the dash I get a ‘can’t find server” error.

In reply to: New Multisite Install Trouble with Subdomains and WildcardThe fact that I did that is in the original post. I followed all the directions on the sprout spire bluehost tutorial, as well as the tut above. I was under the impression I don’t need domain mapping to make multisite work when using wildcard (because wildcard force-creates the subdomains for you, and because you only need to map domains of existing sites like main2.com back to sub.main1.com).
Is there a tutorial or walk-through for this somewhere? It’s exactly what I need as well. I have an existing, non-wp site up at root.com and the hub of a multisite halfway built at hub.root.com with other subdomain a.root.com showing up as a.hub.root.com.
Second problem: I want to leave the non-wp site up until the new one is ready and then either point the main root.com site to the a.root.com site and leave the hub where it is, or migrate the hub site to the main root.com site. Which would be the preferable, cleanest easiest choice? I’m totally new but have gotten this far, and need a bit of direction. Thanks!

In reply to: Multisite help needed for subdomainSo I can use a subdomain as the “hub” of a multisite network without problems? I was thinking you can only set the main site as your hub and not a subdomain. Is there any other significance to which site you set as a hub of a multisite other than it being the install that basically runs the others?

In reply to: Best way to set up siteIf I do it this way with the subdomains can I get Buddy Press working through both the main site and the subs together seamlessly?
