I was hoping not to use disqus if the same comment box from wp.com was available to us as well.

Also, it is not clear to me what happens when I disable the plugin. Do I loose the comments made while it was activated?

I will give it a try while there is no other idea.

I have just twitted you the url. I switched it back to 5.2 though.

I haven’t ruled out compatibility issues with other plugins yet, I’ll set up a test site soon.

By the way, it didn’t work as expected. It deleted all widgets from my live site (even before I tried adding any widget to the theme I was testing).

I also tried the plugins, and among them SimplePress seemed to be the best for my case.

I also tried those standalone installations with connectors (as you say), but documentation is often not good. I dropped the idea for the moment, but would be interested in learning more about this.

Any help in here? I’d appreciate to have a test site.

BTW, it could be a WP feature, as I guess many people would like to test things hidden from the public!

I also tried that tool, but I believe my blog has too many posts for it to handle. It only imported a couple posts, and many categories came repeated (some categories were 10 times on the list!)

FYI, I’m importing from 3.0.1 to 3.0.5.
