    Thanks, Jesse –

I talked to someone local who uses WordPress to build websites for his clients, and he told me that one should never attempt to modify the CSS code for a WordPress theme — in spite of all the sources on the Internet giving advice on how to do just that! — because the changes will disappear when the theme is updated anyway. And he wouldn’t consider looking at a site with errors like that and trying to fix them (especially since his fees are too high to make it practical anyway)!

Then he actually suggested that for a simple one-page site I try a different software, so I ended up reconstructing the site completely from scratch using Weebly because I was so frustrated and there didn’t appear to be any other alternative. I would have preferred to use WordPress — I do have two other WordPress sites — but I think I may be better off sticking with what I’ve got for this one, since it’s working now and I’ve already spent far too much time on it.

BTW, I did have ‘static front page’ selected under the settings, and I’m still very puzzled as to why it seemed to think my one and only page was page number two . . .

I’ve posted this question on the theme support sub-forum, but it’s clear that there are far more questions being posted than answers being given (I posted yesterday and my question is already down on the third page or so!).

Does anybody know of some other source where I can get help with this issue? (No offense to the folks running this forum, but it certainly looks as if the questions so far outnumber the replies that it’s just not an effective way to get support…)

Thanks, Tara – I’ll try reposting this there.
