Really need to figure this out
Even with firebug, i’m not totally familiar with coding, i’m not sure what it is i’m missing or what i should be doing differently.
I’ll take down the under construction for a second, so you can see it.

May be a silly question but have you gone to Appearance > Menus?
It’s a drag and drop format, similar to the widget arrangement screen.
There it lets you set menu items as categories, posts, pages, or custom links of your choice.
