OMG, you had the same problem as me, i was using elemantor and start kit template, i spent yesterday more than 12 hours on the ftp trying to find the solution with no succes, and i just saw this forum subject. i disabled starter template, and i was able to do update on all my plugins and my wordpress aswell! thank you so much steven !
