In reply to: How to handle Footnotes and Endnotes in WPThanks for that, Michael. I will give it a try and see. The idea behind FD-Footnotes seems to be a good one.
Thanks again.

In reply to: How to handle Footnotes and Endnotes in WPI downloaded the FD-Footnotes and belatedly found out it was not 2.9.1 tested. That frightened me away.
I was interested in the WP-Footnotes but I could figure out how to make it work.
I do thank you, MichaelH for your help though.

In reply to: Why can’t see advertising widget in my sidebar 1 on my blogIt turns out the culprit was a plugin: Adblock Plus. I disabled it and all was fine with my sidebar advertising widget. I could see it again.

In reply to: Why can’t see advertising widget in my sidebar 1 on my blogJKovis,
On your last point; the answer is that does not seem to make any difference. Every other computer that I know of can see it but I can’t. Still to answer you question. My wife’s and my computer both the Windows XP OS. Her computer is a Dell laptop and mine is an IT built Desktop PC.
The IT that built it worked for us in our internet cafe and computer shop in the Philippines.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Why can’t see advertising widget in my sidebar 1 on my blogHi Shane,
I tried your suggestion to disable all the plugins. It did not seem to work. Do you have any other suggestions. Don’t hold back to be nice. Tell me what you think. I will admit that I am a technical idiot–that’s a step or two below dummy, I know, but facts are facts. I hardly understand computer and internet technology at all.
I need help with the issue.

In reply to: Why can’t see advertising widget in my sidebar 1 on my blogJkovis, you are echoing what I said when I wrote, “other computers do see the widget.” I appreciate your response though. Do you have any ideas on how I can make it so I see the Amazon advertising widget on my computer?

In reply to: What folders should be backed up b4 upgrading WPI believe you. I am going to do it. Unfortunately I have an account on HostGator (they are good) that has all five of my blogs in it and the blog I am concerned about is the primary in the account. That means I will be downloading five blogs to make that happen. I am sure there is a way around that, but I am not savvy enough to figure it out.

In reply to: What folders should be backed up b4 upgrading WPThank you so much for your comments. I would ask you to restate all that it is best for me to download.
It seems to me you said I should use the export function for the posts and comments, etc. And I should download the wp-content and wp-config.php.
Do I have that right?
Can it all be downloaded via WP export function? I have never used that and have no idea exactly what it does. I do have FileZilla, too.

In reply to: How to add affiliate code to templateHow do I add it in the post editor? It is code from the Amazon affiliate program. this is the Omakase link code. They call it the “Leave it up to us!” They explain, “Omakase links show your site visitors what they’re most likely to buy based on Amazon’s unique understanding of your site, the visitor, and the page itself.” That is the functionality that I need.
I believe this code is java script (JS). I tried adding the java to the bottom of a post in the post editor and that makes it barf, as one tech type puts it.

In reply to: Post Format menu missingwp-rory,
Thanks for trying to help.
The Visual Editor is not disabled. And, yes, it is the buttons and boxes above the text area that are missing when I use Firefox, version 3.0.8, on this particular installation only for this one URL only on this PC only. I can see these buttons and boxes on another URL using Firefox. Using IE8 I can see the buttons and boxes on both URLs, and, at my shop, my IT can see the buttons and boxes on both URLs in Firefox.
I am beside myself. I don’t know what to do. I have removed and reinstalled Firefox while deleting the entries for Firefox in the Program files.
I can think of only one more thing and that is to ask for help in the Thesis theme forum.

Thanks so much for you help. I am going to be rebuilding my computer system over the next day or two. After that I will try the method of handling MS Word, which pointed me toward.
Cheers.
