Hmm…so is it better to let Google decide what makes your content relevant to certain searches? Do the Google gods even look at meta tags or do they consider/assume them to be spam/irrelevant?

Thanks, odie2 and Sean! I’ve read a few more articles and threads on this and it seems people are pretty 50/50 on whether or not it’s a good idea to do one. Our site is a city-guide and we utilize a menu bar (which helps with navigation) but most people come to our site via individual posts we share on our Facebook page and then click around based on the suggested pages we include in each post. Since we’re constantly posting new content as well as event listings we have thousands of pages and I’m not sure if users would find this tool useful or if it would just be something to do for the Googlebots. We do use Google Analytics, so is that enough info for Google to use in terms of crawling/indexing our site? If we’ve grown this much without one perhaps we don’t need it after all, how much would it hurt to not have one?

Thank you so much odie2 for your response!! Very helpful. We just redid our homepage so hopefully some of these issues have been fixed. I’d love it if you could take a look and let me know if you see any issues that we should still take care of.

C++ and mrppp – thank you for replying! Since our Structured Data is in good standing is it worth it to research into it further and tweak/play with it? Can it continue to be perfected or once it’s good is that as good as it gets?

The entire reason I’m posting in this forum to begin with is because these are things I’ve tried to research and can’t grasp. If I knew that those validators were similar enough to post together in a single thread I would have but alas I’m not fluent in SEO so I do not know that and I’m reaching out to those who are in SEO forums.

Can’t you be helpful instead of criticizing those who ask for help?
