UPDATE & WORKAROUND:
More info:
A. I do have a control site: I am running the same plug-in (Mailchimp for WP by Ibericode) on two web sites. Same version of WP, all up to date. They populate the same form on MailChimp.
The connection and forms work fine on Site A. They fail on Site B ever since I added my SSL cert. GoDaddy says it can’t be the SSL, but I’ve found enough obscure reports of how it was exactly the SSL with lots of arcane fixes deep in the code. I don’t want to go there due to problems with updates, etc.
B. Switching to another plug-in did NOT work. It just LOOKED like it was working. The plug-in’s interface claimed that it’s connected to Mailchimp, but it can’t see my MC lists, no matter how many times I create a new API key. So a new plug-in and creating new forms is NOT the answer.
I worked for hours with my web host (godaddy), and I can’t do anything with MailChimp because it is a free account.
THE WORKAROUND:
I got rid of all embedded MailChimp forms on my B site. I eliminated the plug-ins. Instead, I’m generating the subscription form on the MailChimp site and linking to it from my site. Bother.
It’s an extra step for my visitors that might cost me subscriptions, but I’m at a dead-end with the technical resolution. I look forward to genius resolution here.

In reply to: [Paid Memberships Pro - Mailchimp Add On] "No lists found" after entering APII am having the same problem: can’t see my MailChimp lists.
It started with MailChimp for WP returning the following error:
Service Unavailable.
Status NOT CONNECTEDI followed all the instructions at https://mc4wp.com/kb/solving-connectivity-issues/
GoDaddy says they are up to date with their PHP CURL & requests to https://*.api.mailchimp.com/ are not blocked (I spent some time on the phone with them last night.)
I am using MailChimp for WordPress Version 4.1.1
Free version of MailChimp, so no support ??
my site plug-ins, themes, and WP are all up to date
WP 4.7.4
This was working a few weeks ago, because I received notification from MC of new subscribers. Now nothing.I tried a new MailChimp API key with the same results.
The only change to my site since it was last working was that I added an SSL certificate. The article says that there was a known bug with WP 4.4, but my error message does not specify SSL, and it was supposed to be fixed in 4.4.1.
I used the advanced steps to test the API key via SSH using the correct API Key parameters. I got lots of output that I’m not sure is secure to paste here, but it looks like the connection was successful. Can I post the output of the test here without compromising my security?
NEXT WORKAROUND:
I installed Easy MailChimp Forms 6.3.18 by Yikes, Inc., which information said it was updated one day ago, and it connected to MailChimp (at least it says so). However, it can’t see any of my lists! I tried an old and a new API Key with same results. The plug-in thinks it’s connected, but it can’t see my lists for either Key.
MailChimp is hosed right now, and I just started a big social media campaign to get subscribers. When I try to subscribe, the form just fails.
Desperately seeking a miracle answer. Exhausted support at my Webhost and I’m free on MC, so I’m invisible there.
Superheroes and miracle workers appreciated.

In reply to: [Paid Memberships Pro - Mailchimp Add On] "No lists found" after entering APII am having the same problem: mailchimp was working and accepting subscribers, now it doesn’t.
I was using MailChimp for WP successfully, then I got an error this week that it won’t connect. I followed all the recommendations elsewhere in this forum, spent time with my Webhost Support (GoDaddy) making sure the PHP Curl was up to date, no blocking on their end, tested via SSH, all with no results, tests are good.
I tried uninstalling reinstalling, generating a new API key. No go.
I tried a different MailChimp plug-in, and it connects! But it can’t see any lists, so MailChimp is essentially non-functional and any subscribers info is lost to limbo. (Just put out a big social media campaign–ugh)
WordPress 4.7.4
MailChimp for WP 4.1.1 (won’t connect)
Easy Forms for MailChimp by Yikes 6.3.18 last updated 1 day ago (connects, no lists)
MailChimp FreeAll plug-ins & theme up to date
I got a page of output from the SSH test of the API key, but I don’t know what it means. ?? It seems to say it connected.
All suggestions appreciated. My book launch will be hosed with no way to collect names.
Interesting data point regarding my problem. I installed Easy MailChimp Forms 6.3.17 by Yikes, Inc., which information said it was updated one day ago, and it connected to MailChimp (at least it says so).
The MailChimp for WP by Ibericode was last updated a few weeks ago and still does not.
The recent update may be circumstantial, but the former works. The latter does not.
I hate having to recreate all my forms, but I need working CTA.
I’ll report back if there is any change. BTW, I don’t consider this resolved, since my preferred plug-in won’t work.

I don’t want to jump to conclusions.

I’m not sure where to go next. This makes Mailchimp completely useless. My main call to action is to get new subscribers. Suggestions?

In reply to: Can’t update my themes and delete themes in 4.6.1Thank you, lorro. That’s a good plug-in to have. Strangely, all my updates worked find just a few minutes ago. I have no idea why the problem was existing before.

In reply to: [Nisarg] MORE tag not workingDearest all,
I am experiencing a very similar problem, which does not seem to be the same as other posts about More tags.
Specifically, the More tag is not inserting a text link. It just curtails the excerpt with no indication that the post (or testimonial) is longer. “Read more” or “continue” or anything like it.
I’m using the Visual editor to insert the More tag. It looks correct
<!–more–>I am using WP 4.5.3, Juniper theme, with only Jetpack installed.
So I looked at my other sites that use other themes. NONE of them have “more” anywhere, and I already got one complaint from a viewer saying that they couldn’t figure out how to read the rest of the blog post because there was no link. (They eventually clicked on the title, but I’m sure I’m losing views because of this.)
Is this a WP 4.5.3 bug? This is a real hindrance to keeping viewers on the sites, IMHO.
Many thanks to anyone who can give me a workaround that is not too complicated and lets me know that the WP programmers are on top of it.
With sparkle,
LaraesqueI have done this. Well, I renamed the old folder, just in case (jetpack_old). I installed, and I did not lose my Portfolio settings! I have to check other settings, but I am so happy my home page is repopulated. Thanks for the help.

In reply to: Slider stopped working for Briefed themeMore info: The Briefed slider is imbedded in the static home page with a shortcode: [featuredposts] However, it’s as if the controls for this in the theme options are no longer connected to it. Previously, the setting designated that 8 posts be displayed. So 8 dots show up at the bottom of the slider that link to each post. However, in its broken form, the following things are true:
- The dots no longer link to the individual posts
- If I change the settings to display only 4 posts, 8 dots still show
- Of course, no images are displayed in the slide show any more
Does the short code no longer work? The theme documentation is very … well … brief. I couldn’t find anything about the shortcode even though it worked this morning.
I tried simply removing the short code, updating the page, then replacing the shortcode to no avail.
Again, any clues are welcome.

In reply to: [WordPress Backup to Dropbox] backup stops at 99 %Dear Michael, I thought I’d add my experience to this thread just in case it might add some insight. I have what I think is a rather small site that was running on WP 3.5 (currently updating to 3.6). I used WPB2D v 1.6 to do a backup before the upgrade. It ran all bloody day at 99%. I discovered that some kind of timeout was happening, I’m not sure where. If I refreshed the WordPress backup page, a few more files would make their way to my Dropbox. After a few, it would stall again, always at 99%. I was persistent, and every 15 minutes or so, I’d refresh the browser page (Google Chrome on Windows 8). After a looooong time, the backup completed.
I don’t know how to verify the backup, but I’m reasonably sure it completed without error.
15:03:36: A total of 7MB of memory was used to complete this backup.
15:03:36: A total of 11007 files were processed.
15:03:36: Backup complete.
15:03:34: Approximately 99% complete. View uploaded files?
… <stuff omitted; repeat “99% complete” a few hundred times>
08:08:31: Your time limit is 300 seconds and your memory limit is 64M
08:08:31: Backup started on Friday August 23, 2013.Not sure if the time limit and memory limit are germane to what I experienced, but this the beginning and end of the 7-hour log.
