To someone who is new, the codex makes absolutely no sense.

And open paragraph can and will affect certain things. I had issues with CSS not showing correctly to sidebar and comments not showing up completely due to an open paragraph.

Comments ARE allowed on pages, just some themes do not show them.

This will open in the default e-mail client. Mine is set to thunderbird so t-bird opens. If someone sets the default to Outlook, it’ll open, etc

THemes simply go in the “wp-themes” folder via FTP. Are you getting an error or what do you mean by unable to upload?

By “this option” you mean there is no comments link?
Or there is but no comments show up?

I experienced something similar because I was using the editor. I turned it to “HTML” instead of visual and it solved this.

I think it really depends on the complexity of the theme, whether you base it off something else, how familiar you are et cetera

You can’t really include in that way but you can edit the template files to match your existing layout and make wordpress seamless

What is the full URL that the dashboard links to? IE https://yourdomain.com/index.php/ or something similar

Yes, you will need to create a database and assign a user to it.
You need to enter the name of the database, user and password into the config.php

Then you should be able to access the install.php. Perhaps you need to compare to a ‘clean’ config.php to make sure you’re doing it right?

Ultimately, wordpress CAN do all this. Whether you can do it by yourself or will need a bit of outside help is probably going to be an issue. The install is pretty easy, have you taken a look at that? If so, is that over your head or do you think you’d be able to manage?

If you want to make WP seamless with your site – which IS possible – you’ll need to edit some of the files and you may not understand how if you’re a complete newbie.

The good news is, updating and editing via WP is usually pretty easy for even the amateurs. It’s just the set up and install that can be a hassle.

Do you have a site set up already? For some, it’s easier to start customizing WP and work the rest of the site into that rather than the other way around.

It will not override them but depending upon the setup, index.php may load rather than index.html when viewing your domain.

You mgiht try a theme switcher plugin – although these are now for testing exactly
