In reply to: New WordPress Admin Design WP Back End FeedbackHeads up, people! After biding my time, I’ve put some more time into making this design look good. I also decided to name it “Spotpress” because of its obvious resemblance to the Spotlight search results window in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. I also took a quick stab at placing a few of the parts of the post writing page on the sidebar, but right now it’s extremely sketchy since it’s relying on absolute position and a constant text size. I’ll probably have to learn JavaScript or something to really get this working, but until then, you’ll at least be able to see where I intend to go with the sidebar.
Well, that’s all for now… Get the latest version of Spotpress, the WP admin redesign plugin, and please leave some feedback on it in this thread.

In reply to: New WordPress Admin Design WP Back End FeedbackWell, here’s what I have for now:
https://homepage.mac.com/kohlmannj/.Public/wpadminredesign.zipUnpack the ZIP, dump the contents into your plugins folder, and activate the plugin.
There are a couple issues so far:
- “Updated” notification’s positioning is wonky
- Problems with getting stuff on the sidebar
- I’m not sure how I would be able to do some of these things without having to resort to absolute positioning, which is ucky since it doesn’t account for how high a content section can be, or modifying the PHP code in the admin pages, which is equally arbitrary in my opinion.
- Also had a problem with the sidebar clearing the heading on the Write page (you’ll see some white space on the top). Any help with this would be appreciated.
- Wasted Bandwidth; the plugin’s stylesheet *overlays* the WP admin stylesheet, so I can’t say that that’s extremely efficient, though hey, maybe it is.
- Browser compatibility?
- It works great in Safari and Firefox (except for PNG color mismatching, which I’ll fix by using GIFs), of course.
- I haven’t even seen what murderous rendering errors emerge in IE 6. Help would be appreciated in this department as well if it actually means something to someone (read: nobody sane would use IE! :-P).
Nevertheless, enjoy and gimmie some feedback 8-).
