In reply to: Cannot change the content widthThank you for the reply! I did figure it out (turns out I just needed to clear my cache to see the changes). The only problem now is that my sidebars have gone to the top of the page and I’m not sure how to get them level with my posts. Any ideas?

In reply to: Changing comment stylekeesiemeijer, I don’t know why, but nothing seems to work. I’ve added in the new rule set like you suggested and nothing happened. Either way, because of this post I’ve already made the comments look so much better and I really appreciate your responding to my question. Thank you!

In reply to: What do you all think?Much better already! And you’re most welcome!
Thank you, abillman! I was never sure about the font so I’m glad you said something and in such detail so I know exactly where you’re coming from.
No worries about being an expert or not; just an initial reaction to my site is worth saying/hearing.
I really appreciate your kind words!
Thanks for looking at my blog, marjiec. The clover is green… it’s been pressed so it’s lost most of it’s color. I’ve lightened it up as much as possible without making it look too fake. I’m a big fan of minimalism and simplicity so that’s why I haven’t put borders. Too each his or her own, I suppose. Thanks again for checking it out.
Thank you so much nglover64! I really appreciate you taking the time to check out my site. I love color so I’m definitely going to work on what you said. Also, I’m so glad you actually read my content and gave me your feedback on that as well. I’m happy you liked what you saw! Thanks again!

In reply to: Changing comment styleThanks so much for the response keesiemeijer! I’ve got it to the point where I have just a line above individual comments, but I don’t understand your directions for adding a line between the name + date/time. I tried changing it to look more like the code you pasted, but nothing changed.
Here is what’s in my comments.php:
<div class="comment"> <strong><?php comment_type('','Trackback','Pingback'); ?></strong> <strong><?php if ('' != get_comment_author_url()) { ?><a href="<?php comment_author_url(); ?>"><?php comment_author() ?></a><?php } else { comment_author(); } ?></strong> <?php edit_comment_link('[e]',' '); ?><br /> <strong></strong> <?php comment_date() ?> - <?php comment_time(); ?></p> <?php comment_text() ?>
I took out the < strong > in each place and added in the <p class=”comment-meta”>, but like I said.. it stayed the same.

In reply to: Critique my site pleaseI love handmade, too! ?? I need some color, though! Your site seems so sad with just the black and white.

In reply to: Comments – speed, readability and scalabilityA lot of things seem to be in the wrong spot. If it’s possible, I’d move the headline/top menu all to the very left so that the categories all fit on the same line. Also, the YouTube video should be smaller. It really bothers me that it hangs off like that.
Your website seems very word heavy so I suggest having just your headlines on the right side and maybe those headlines can be linked to a page that lists all those different sites. I hope this helps you out!Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: Critique? Constructive Criticism? While I love simplicity, I think the headline could use some more personality/color/design. Just a suggestion!

In reply to: Review my blog and give opinion? :)The ads are very distracting. Rather than have that one right before your content, I’d have one over on the sidebar (perhaps under the blogroll). I’m not a fan of the bullets on the sitemap page. Maybe just leave everything how it is minus the bullet points.
Hope this helps you out a bit!Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: What do you all think?Your site got me interested right away: just by the first post (Black Swan ?? )! You’re correct in saying you’ve filled it with quality content. I had a hard time figuring out what to tell you because I honestly do like how it looks. The only, only thing thing that felt a bit off for me is the title font for the different posts. Everything (like your headline) looks so great that that font just seems way too dull for your site. It’s not cool enough for your blog, ha!

In reply to: Review My Site PleaseFor some reason, the title font looks a bit unfocused. When I go to a single post, your headline becomes a box with a question mark. Also, it’s a small thing, but the bigger tag goes over the line above it. Hope this helps!

In reply to: New site for freelance copywriter, would love your $.02For it being so new, It looks great! The only things that stood out to me in a negative way were the very top menu. The font/color don’t seem to go with the rest of the page. Also, while I really like the smoking pencil, it feels like one too many.
I would absolutely love your opinion on my site when you get a chance!:

In reply to: Any comments for new web site?I’m not a fan of the big, black, bold font. It almost seems out of place. I suggest making it softer/lighter. Also, the homepage seems like it has a lot of information for such a small page. Perhaps you could make more room for the ‘Branches Highlights’.
I really like the headline!
