In reply to: Default Screen OptionsAlthough these are great plugins. They do not do what is referred to in this thread.
Being able to remove what is seen as modules in the dashboard (not settings or menus on the left).
Has anyone tried the coding above to see how it works? A pic would be great.

In reply to: getting rid of news on dashboardYou can remove the rss feed boxes.
Other WordPress news…for example can be removed or changed by clicking the config link on the top right of the box. You have to move your mouse over it first to see it. All the boxes on the dashboard do not respond this way though. Only the rss feed boxes. but it could help configure the dashboard or at least stream line it.
Interesting thing is that when you remove or change the rss feeds so do rss feeds in all users dashboards.

In reply to: Adding link and text on DashboardUse the wordnote plugin to make notes that can be seen on the dashboard by all users.
Use dashboard links to display links on the dashboard.
Both seem to be 2.7 compatible.
I hope this helps.

In reply to: Hiding/Showing certain dashboard admin menus?I finally figured out the conflicting plugin with Adminimize. It was WordPress Gallery Slideshow.
As for CMS post-control…excellent plugin. But it doesn’t allow any functional change of the default dashboard modules at different user levels.
maybe 2.8 will spawn some results…

In reply to: Admin dashboard pages — default for new usersI got the menus to open in adminimize and unfortunately it doesn’t allow you to customize the screen options for all users.

In reply to: Admin dashboard pages — default for new usersAfter too many hours looking into this , I found a couple options:
Adminimize plugin – looks like it can do fair amount of dashboard customizing, although I couldn’t open the option menus from the collapsible modules.

In reply to: getting rid of news on dashboardVipers plugin has been discontinued since 2.7. But it would be nice to be able to change the default screen options on the dashboard for users. There is too much information (and some they don’t need to see) for a subscriber. I would love to be able to pick and choose what they see without having to remove the dashboard completely with another plugin.

In reply to: Hiding/Showing certain dashboard admin menus?I would even settle to change the default screen options and use WP-CMS Post Control to remove the screen options completely. Then the user couldn’t adjust it.
There is a way to remove the dashboard from the users access. The only thing they would see is their profile page with NO DASHBOARD menu. Use WP Hide Dashboard to accomplish this.

In reply to: Hiding/Showing certain dashboard admin menus?I have been looking for the exact same thing. Role manager and adminimize maybe what you are looking for. Role manager works great but doesn’t allow the access to the dashboard modules (menus).
Adminimize looks like it would be the plugin for this. But I was unable to open the collasible options menus which made the plugin useless.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Same Screen Options for all usersA plugin for user specific screen options – controlled by admin would be fabulous.

In reply to: Default Screen OptionsAnyone find a plugin or work around for selecting specific modules for individual or users of one level?
Anyone working on a plugin?
Can you change the default screen options and then use WP-CMS Post Control to remove the screen options…it may work.

In reply to: Admin dashboard pages — default for new usersExcellent points about what a subscriber sees in the dashboard. I have just spent several hours searching for a way to customize the modules for each level of user.
No such plugin exists. Although there are numerous ones that customize some of the dashboard and even remove the screen options tab.
Would love to see this in 2.8
