Forgot to mention that I downloaded and created the timthumb.php file in a folder with the correct permissions (775), the folder containing timthumb.php was in with the theme I’m using, is there a better place to put it?

Thanks Webjunk, just Ftp’d on to the server and renamed the plugins directory, and joy of joys I can now access the admin panel ??

Thanks for the advice, I tried renaming the offending plugin directory, but it didn’t make a difference.
I’ll give renaming the themes directory a go, but that would probably put me back to square one…hmmm, not sure I can face that..
Fortunately I’ve set up a daily backup, so I’m thinking of restoring the database to the day before, it means I lose a days work, but I can live with that..

The offending plugin (which I would advise not touching with a barge-pole, is WP-Contact, it’s supposed to allow you to install a contact form in the sidebar…it really, really doesn’t work!

Is there anywhere this plugin should be reported to? I’m just thankfully I’ve been a bit geeky and have a daily backup running..

So this is all fixed now, it was a combinatin of a couple of things, but basically it was the locations specified in the images.xml and settings.xml.
The images.xml should look like this:
<images>
<photo image=”images/01.jpg”></photo>
</images>

..but mine looked like this:
<images>
<photo image=”01.jpg”></photo>
</images>

And the settings.xml was refering to a images2.xml…which didn’t exsist, so I changed it to images.xml and it all works.. ??

I’ve been trying to get this plugin to work as well, and I’ve just tried what petrre suggested by putting just a backslash ‘/’ and selecting ‘Show the popup only for the following paths’ and it works fine.

Right, don’t worry, I’ve figured it out, well, when I say figured it out what I really mean is I’ve figured out the correct question to ask google.

So, if you’re having the same issue, go to the plugins section of the admin console and search for a plugin called ‘Category Posts Widget’, then, once it’s downloaded, installed and you’ve activated it, go to appearance (in the admin console), widgets and hey presto there’s a new wdiget!!
Drag it over to the sidebar on the right and configure it by telling it which category it should show.
Then, drag a new one over to the sidebar and select another category..
Amazing!!
