No other cache layer and caching for logged in users is disabled.

No i don’t, but my hoster has a recaptcha in place for the login page.
At the moment i can’t reproduce the issue anymore but several users have reported the issue, and i saw it happen to myself today.

On the other hand other users reported to have no problem creating a new password. Could it be related to how ‘old’ the cache is?

Well i am not very comfortable with php…
And from what i tried sofar the inital entrance in the database of wp user details works ok, but i guess if someone changes their emailadress it will not be reflected in the database.

While typing this topic i notice that in the first supplied code it seems the

$current_user = wp_get_current_user();
is missing, adding it solved the issue. Maybe you can add it to your topic on the website as well (https://xnau.com/using-participants-database-with-wordpress-users/)

Could it be a solution to disable the php clock synchronization? Either by a setting or some code?

I have not submitted my app review yet because i hav no clue what to do and i do not want to do it wrong.

I was hoping on some help here from te developers on what settings to use during the submit of the review.
