The preview is a courtesy to allow you a chance to review your work before you place it into a page or post. It would not be possible to configure it for every theme out there.

Are you using a WordPress default theme like 2014? If not, then that is likely the issue with the lost formatting during preview.

One option – You can always try to copy the shortcode from the guide into a page or post and preview it there instead.

Not exactly. This plugin is designed to help you document step-by-step instructions for using technical products or services in WordPress.

I think something like Gravity forms may serve your purpose.

Thank you for the kind words. You are incorrect about the two items that you mentioned, they are not problems, they are simply not features of this plugin at this time.

There is however a pro version that will have these features that is being tested. See https://www.kylembrown.com/step-by-step for more information and to sign up to be notified when it is avaialble.

In terms of support, note that this is a free plugin that I produced for the WordPress community and it is maintained as time permits. Responses in less than 24 hours specifically on weekends is not promised or guaranteed.

Are you using the most current version? View is only for previewing your guide and should work. However, using the shortcode as written in the instructions is the way to use the guide in production.
