Hi,
That is just for demo purposes, you can change the locations or use the MultiLocations add on if you want to cover lots of different locations.

In reply to: Editing a Theme Header or ImageIf you save it anywhere on you computer, named as frame_top.jpg then via ftp upload it to /wp-content/themes/alpine/images/ just put it into this folder it might ask you if you want to overwrite the exsisting file, say yes.
If you do not have ftp access, then save it via you file manager in your servers control panel.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Editing a Theme Header or ImageIf you replace it and keep the naming convention the same, i.e save it to /wp-content/themes/alpine/images/frame_top.jpg and keep the same name you will not need to do any thing else, as it is already selected as that item for your header image.

In reply to: Editing a Theme Header or ImageYou will need to go to /wp-content/themes/alpine/images/frame_top.jpg
it is all one image, so if you want to edit the words you are best having the original seperates of the file if you cannot get them then lets hope you are good with photoshop.Forum: Themes and Templates

In reply to: [Twenty Eleven] Adding functions.php fileHi Ruthie,
FTP is the best way to acces the files and folders structure.
If you navigate to yoursite/wp_content/themes/ in this folder you should see the default ‘twentyeleven’ folder that is the theme.
You say you have created a child theme so I assume that you also have your theme folder here, so enter that folder, and this is where you will add a functions.php file.
You should have a style.css in there already for you child theme.
it will sit in the same folder..
As below add opening and closing php tags with your php in between and save and upload as functions.php<?php php will go here... ?>

In reply to: Display full site on mobile screenYou have made some mistakes in your css styles, rem values are important and also % values, although you have some.
I would create child .css from scratch, start with simple things like text color but when you get to menu and body, check your child as you go which will tell you where you might have gone wrong.
Sounds drastic but you can rename the current .css so you have a reference point for colors etc.
Use the inspect on fire bug it will help.
One thing I did notice you have.site-header h1 min-width: 960px;
