I am having this problem as well – I am using WP 2.7 and just upgraded some plugins. Now all my comments are closed, even though in Admin -> Discussions, I have checked the box to allow comments.

Any suggestions?

I was able to locate the mySQL stuff for my blog, and I have exported the entire thing to my desktop. How can I restore it into my blog?
