It’s far far far from perfect but I’ve added an empty link at the top of my menu with a “menufix” class and a line in my css: .menufix {display:none}

I have the same issue. The first link in my menu is always expanded.

Look at his sidebar. He has achieved what you want by using a filter called: dynamic_sidebar_params
