I think the problem is with Custom excerpts/snippets. See my search below:

The search term avery isn’t hightlighted or weighted in any normal pages. It is however coming up in the body of a page with a shortcode (last one).

Where did you use the_excerpt()in the search.php file?

A week later we are so close and Avada has gone above and beyond to fix this. I am happy to share everything they have done to make the plugin work. Avada has patched every error and everything is getting indexed but your very basic options are not working (weighing, highlighting).

Avada’s response is as follows:

“Hey Kim!

Avada comes with an option to strip HTML out of excerpts. This was enabled and seemed to by removing the HTML that Relevanssi was adding. I have unchecked this option for you and the search term is now being bolded correctly.

Unfortunately I’m not sure why the highlighting isn’t working correctly. I enabled the default WordPress theme and it was not highlighting there either. Could you please follow this item up with the Relevanssi team?

Thank you for all of your help. Avada has been amazing and working to fix this. They have even patched the “Disabling shortcode” error and have implemented a version update to try to work with your plugin. Fingers crossed it works! I’ll update once completed.

One last issue. I cannot get get the plugin to work (highlight, weighted measures, etc). I tried following the guide here:

and it is still not working. I did not find any query calls in the search.php (posted above). Do you see anything that might make Relevanssi fail?

Ok, I think I know why the search was not showing. I was erroring out on my index. Any idea how to get past this error?
