email notifications for both posts & comments INCLUDING history
ability to send email to post new topic (kicking off email notifiers)
ability to reply to notification email to comment back
for that comment to post to the site and kick off email notifiers
ability to opt-out of a discussion/topic thread
suggestions:
forum plugs with RSS + Feedburner
Postie to post and comment via email combined with either WP Post Notifier for All/WP Comment Notifier for All *or* Subscribe 2
I will try Postie with Subscribe 2.

I need something similar to the Yahoo groups – a listserve / forum / discussion panel that can run completely through email with all new posts and reply comments going to all member with history.
This is how Yahoo groups functions.
I was able to, with Subscribe2, get the notifications to go out. You can even group people or send a mass email without posting to the site.
But replies to the email notifications don’t post as comments – they post as new blog posts.
I will attempt to do what PublicRadio has tried with Postie and see how far I get. I wonder if anyone has an opinion on Jetpack vs BuddyPress when it comes to this type of functionality? Thanks everyone!!
