Hi Tom…actually that file does exist. I have no idea where the warning message came from, but it didn’t affect the functionality of my site once it was moved.

Hi Shane, thanks for your suggestion…I tried that, setting file permissions, and about a million other things until I realized it was as simple as creating an “uploads” folder under wp-config that doesn’t come pre-loaded in WP…

Hi vinayhk, not sure if you figured this out or not, but you need to go to Settings -> Miscellaneous in the admin panel and change the upload directory.

First, create a new directory called “uploads” in the wp-contents folder.

Hope that helps…took me hours to figure that out!!

Definitely a design problem!!!

I changed my directory from site.com/wordpress to blogs.site.com/newname and I pulled my hair out for hours not being able to upload files properly. I messed around with permissions, added forum posts…and the only thing I needed to do was change the directory under Settings -> Miscellaneous to the appropriate folder.

The software is great for alot of things, but they really need to create an automator that can take the work and frustration out of updating…

Can you explain how to create a proper backup for the database? I searched but couldn’t find anything. Moving WordPress doesn’t explain that…

Hosting is with Host Excellence and they use hsphere…

Can anyone explain the function of cpanel and hsphere?
