Apologies for not responding earlier…and thanks mpmchugh, for the diagnosis.

Yes, other plugins were installing and working fine when I tested this one.
It looks like a great tool, though at the time I just needed a quicker, easier way to rearrange a bunch of pages rather than manually changing the “Order” number page-by-page, and found another plugin similar to yours that did that one-off job.

I do also like the idea of the added dropdown in the Visual Editor to give access to ALL [shortcodes] available (assuming thats every shortcode, whether created via the current theme or all currently activated plugins?), that seems a useful enough idea to even have broken out into its own plugin (if there isn’t one already with this functionality)!

I’ll test it again soon I hope, and I’ll give a shout out to confirm its working, but it was just for a quickie job at the time…

I want to add another report of this issue.

Mostly been noticing the ‘backup.php’ error…BUT, now just as I write this, I’m checking again (clicked on ‘Security’ in wp’s left side menu in admin) and I got the backup.php error, then refreshed browser, then I got the filecheck.php error, then tried refresh again, finally kicked me to Better WP Security’s Dashboard tab. I then checked my email to confirm…I didn’t get any database backup emailed to me.

    Specific errors:
(masking out my specific directories with —)

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_mail() in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/---/---/wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/inc/backup.php on line 159

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_mail() in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/---/---/wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/inc/filecheck.php on line 336

So eventually I do get into the plugin settings at least which is better than being locked out of it!

I can manually click the ‘Create Database Backup’ button/link in the ‘Backup’ tab in Better WP Security and get a database backup emailed to me right then. Just the automatic backups don’t get emailed.

    My setup:
    – WordPress 3.5
    – Backup Interval: 12 Hours
    – Send Backups by Email: (checked on)
    – running locally on Mac OSX 10.5.8 using DesktopServer 3.5.8
(older setups I know, it just where I’m at at the moment!)

Also to add, the backup emails were working in the past recently, could have been with the latest updated version it hasn’t? Not 100% positive when, but that seems like the first place to check.

I do want to give kudos to the plugin, its incredible what’s all built in, love just the right mix of security features along with the auto-backup feature (plus I noticed the addition of hourly option vs. just once a day as it was before upgrading it…yay!). Hope it can get any new bugs ironed out soon, its a gem of a plugin.

I am searching for an answer to the very same/similar issue!

In my case, using the MediaElement.js to play an mp3 audio file within a lightbox (prettyPhoto variety). Haven’t tried in the very latest Firefox, but so far it works so the audio does stop playing when the lightbox is closed in every browser I’ve tried EXCEPT IE (version 9, only one available to me right now). Shame to read newwer Firefox has the same issue for you…

OK, just now tested the Firefox on Windows I had (FF 13.0.1), and the audio player didn’t even load or play, just an empty black rectangle in its place.

Firefox wants me to do an update, so I just did…its now at 14.0.1

Another test…and same thing. Empty black rectangle, no sound.

    Any ideas?
Unfortunately, I can’t share a link. Private site, under development.

Also…redpockets, I see you just went for real window popups for the videos instead of lightboxes. And did you test your audio-in-lightboxes in IE? The player(s) in the lightbox(es) display, but no sound for me when clicking the play button, in IE9.

I’ve done some beginning / first-timer steps with W3 Total Cache recently, reading about all its settings, reviews of it, etc…so I’d be really interested in how you get along with it and if and how you resolve this problem.

I’m curious (and maybe, hopefully, you’ve tried this already Andrea), if you’ve made sure to completely clear out Explorer’s browser cache. And even quit/restart IE after doing so, even quit/restart your PC as well, just to be super sure all is clear.

I’ve read comments via google searches for W3 Total Cache, just to not use the Minify option in it at all. But for any ill effects to remain after disabling the plugin…that’s real bad. Would really like to hear what’s behind that as I’m trying to determine a caching and site-speedup solution for a client’s wordpress site. Hopefully you’ll get some good feedback here very soon.
